About this deal

I cannot finds the proper words to express my appreciation for real characters with flaws that are REAL. Hero is a swoony romance that takes us from a beautiful English country estate to the Highlands of Scotland, to NYC and back again (with a stop in between that I can't mention because it would be a spoiler! I’m sure I’m in the heavy minority when it comes to this book, especially because it’s in the middle damn series but I’m going to give the review anyways. This is the power of Vines’s story-telling, and it’s the reason that you should read her books, namely Hero.

In under an hour, I’d rocked from despair to elation, and right now, I was in danger of developing a hefty crush on my brother’s best friend. Gordain is best friend’s with Ella’ brother James and he comes to her rescue when James asks him to help Ella escape from their evil uncle Richard. A hero denying his love for most of the story can be as much an overwrought trope as a specific genre of romance. Gordain really is a hero, he swooped in and saved Ella when the dastardly dick was going crazy in her and James house, but now Gordain is avoiding her and when Ella asks him to marry her yeah that doesn't go as planned.The boarding school I’d recently left had been a ladies-only college, and it had been a trek to the nearest village. This story is an amazing work of art, highly recommended for anyone looking for a modern-day Highlander to swoon over. However, as in any good romance, that dance turns into something more, and the two must make a choice about their future together. From the first chapter until the last I was hooked and was annoyed when real life got in the way of my listening. This book begins with a moment from Vines’s second book, Love Most, Say Least (by the way, another great book in this series), when Gourdain, James’s (the hero from LMSL) best friend and a military pilot, saves James’s sister, Ella, from their raving uncle.

With practiced motions, he grasped my waist and pulled me close, his gaze taking in the space and the pair of open doors leading to the hall. He has high standards for himself, and when he feels he has done something to besmirch his honor, his disappointment in himself is the stuff of legend. After a beat, his footsteps moved away, then the ballroom’s double doors swung out with an unmistakable thud.Both Ella and Gordain have baggage and issues with neither really believing that they are worthy of love.

Gordain’s reply arrived instantly, and I pictured him chopping up the air, joystick down, zooming to my side. In the 2nd book, Love Most Say Least, we meet Ella and I instantly fell in love with her, so the two of them together? Ella has been locked away for ten years at an elite prep school for women and has no experience with boys/men. Emotional, sexy, romantic, and suspenseful - I loved this story and look forward to the next book in the series.This can be a standalone book if you wish to do so but characters from the previous book and this book did make appears through the series. Gordain has some unresolved father issues and Ella has never had a close relationship with anyone in her life. If you haven't read the other two books in the series Marry the Scot, you should really start with Storm the Castle, then move on to Love Most, Say Least before diving into Hero.
