You can now get dimmable G4’s in 220VAC & 12VDC. This asks the question… is its best to swap the driver and use 12V LED’s or by-pass the original transformer and use 220V LED’s? Different LED drivers are required for different environments for example indoor, outdoor use or kitchen or bathroom. If the driver is to be used outside we recommend that a waterproof driver is used with a minimim IP 65 rating. We would also recomend this for kitchens and bathrooms a waterproof driver with a IP67 minimum rating is used. LED drivers' are electronic DC power regulators designed specifically for DC LED lighting. They are not suitable for 12VAC (halogen or LED retrofit) lighting. Spotlights are ‘directional’ bulbs that emit light in a focused beam. Halogen spotlights are a form of incandescent light bulb that use a tungsten filament and a mix of inert and halogen gases to produce light. Driver should refer to a current regulated DC power supply, but often same name given to voltage regulated device, so you need to be careful.This is personal preference. Here, we’ll refer to the two bulbs as MR16 and GU10.
