I recently took the Silver Cross Jet on holiday, and that has several advantages over the Britax: an extra long sun canopy, seat recline function and a smoother ride.

It’s easy enough to push, but the wheels started clattering on the very first outing I took it on, which was a quick school run. There’s so much space for Isabella to move at nap times, her legs are fully supported and the upright position is good enough so she doesn’t feel she’s missing out on seeing anything. I can’t help thinking that perhaps it would benefit from bigger wheels at back like an all-terrain pushchair. Easy to attach, it features ventilation holes for better air circulation and a window for quick and easy access to your child.

Easy to push, easy to fold, and my daughter loves going into it so it must be very comfortable for her.

The slight niggle for me was that when folded, it has a length of 60cm, making it over the limit to take on a flight as carry on baggage. Then a firm yank of the pull chord embedded in the base of the seat unit collapses the frame in a scissor fold.It’s clear that more design work has gone into the Britax Holiday than a standard umbrella stroller, like the basic John Lewis Travel Stroller (no longer available) that I’d used for previous trips. But it also juts on the slightest uneven surfaces like drain covers so it’s not always comfortable pushing.

The freestanding function is particularly useful in cupboards and car foot-wells if you’re pushed for space. The B-Agile-R stroller has a wide seat with a reclining backrest to the horizontal position, easy to adjust with one hand, and an adjustable footrest for greater comfort for the child. As the B-Lite is only forward-facing you’re limited with how much interaction you can have when you’re on the move. The back of the hood unzips and rolls up so along with the mesh panels at side there’s better air circulation on hot days.

We needed a stroller that was compact enough for travel and still sturdy enough to provide a comfortable ride for our 18 month old.But with no adjustable handlebar, there’s a little less wriggle room having it unfolded on a jam-packed train or bus. Folds up easily but my wife struggles a bit as the fold motion needs to be done with a fast lift holding the strap.
