About this deal

One wife is looking for the woman that took everything away from her. The other is looking for the that finally made her happy. Neither really knows who they should be looking for. Claire is a professor of psychology and has just discovered that her husband is dead and buried. And that the man who bought her a house and fathered her children is not really her husband at all. She has to come to terms that the life she had been living is all a lie and that she is "the other woman". And then there’s the whole false memory thing – which is something my mother’s called me out on a few times: when I’ve thought something happened or was a certain way, but it apparently wasn’t at all! Whether we misunderstand situations as kids or memories are tainted by other things I’m not sure… but it’s certainly a bit confronting to Joe. Generous portions of psychosis and chillingly atmospheric in mood and setting. Featuring unreliable narrators and several supporting roles, none of whom could be trusted. Or could they? There were no usual suspects as any of the cast seemed capable.... The storytelling is thoughtful and heartfelt, building towards a dramatic chain of events that results in the long-anticipated meeting of the two women.

Holy hell. I think I've seen better acting at any high school play. It played like a 1970's Kool Aid ad. The little boy I think at least has an excuse as maybe it was his acting 101 lesson but s*** no excuse for the empty acting from the others. I felt like I was watching a dubbed movie-and those are always ridiculous! The actors should be ashamed of what they did here. Under better direction I guess this could have been a mediocre movie but that's a high bar for what was actually made. Did something happen in 2012 that made proper actor make movies like. I cannot unsee this pantomime. The Other Wife is a compelling and emotional story that follows two women whose world is turned upside down when they find out that they have been betrayed by the same man, their husband!The Other Wife by Claire McGowan is a twisty domestic thriller with a cast full of unlikable characters. We see through the perspectives of 3 women: Nora, Suzi and Elle. We know Nora and Suzi are neighbors, but we are trying to guess how this separate woman, Elle, fits into the mix. Unfortunately, I guessed how the 3 women were all interconnected, which removed the element of surprise. But at the end, there were more twists that I didn't see coming, which kept me hooked to the story. I still would recommend this one! 4/5 stars. The world stops making sense for Eleanor. Really liked this! It was easy to watch & definitely held my attention all the way through. There were twists I didn't see coming and that keep you guessing plus the characters were well-drawn and believable. At the end of part one I was really keen to see part two! Always a good sign. Something seems to break inside of me. Perhaps it is several things, tolerance, balance and decency, all of them unravelling and transforming into one thing. Rage. I want Mum to be angry. My Who-Dunnit List was fluid with constant re-evaluating and shuffling of all the options. I don’t remember reading a book where I’ve vacillated to such an extent. I was questioning the sanity and motivations of all! The Other Wife by Michael Robotham will be published in Australia by Hachette and available from 26 June 2018 (though I’ve heard the audiobook may be available already!)At first Nora seems capable, practical and strong, just the sort of woman who can be trusted. She's got secrets of her own, however, secrets that have stayed hidden since her childhood. And then there's Elle, the ex-concert pianist whose beauty has faded as thoroughly as her musical career. She spends most of her time as a prisoner in her beautiful home, doing her best to look attractive when her hard-working husband finally walks through the front door every night. The characters in this book are layered and complex. Everything and everyone is connected, meaning that the reader really gets to know each character, and develops an attachment that leaves you wanting to know more about their lives, even after the book ends. a b c d e Musumeci, Robin (2010). Throughout I found myself wondering which wife has been betrayed the most, and who has the more difficult journey ahead. The glimpses into their respective marriages shed a fascinating light on who Richard was and also suggest why he behaved as he did.

While I found all of the characters extremely annoying, I felt this book had promise, but the further I got into the story, the less I liked it and just wanted it to be over. The fact that I predicted all the twists in this book didn’t massively affect my enjoyment of the story and it was still a fast paced thriller that was hard to put down! Although slightly predictable, the twists were still done really well and suspense in this book was amazing, every scene felt so intense especially towards the end of the book. Her other major novels include September (1990), Coming Home (1995) and Winter Solstice (2000). [10] [12] Coming Home won the Romantic Novel of the Year Award by Romantic Novelists' Association in 1996. [13] The president of the association in 2019, the romance writer Katie Fforde, considers Pilcher to be "groundbreaking as she was the first to bring family sagas to the wider public". [10] Felicity Bryan, in her obituary for The Guardian, writes that Pilcher took the romance genre to "an altogether higher, wittier level"; she praises Pilcher's work for its "grittiness and fearless observation" and comments that it is often more prosaic than romantic. [2] But thinking over it now, in all honestly you can’t completely blame her. Maybe she should have been more careful, and read the forms Richard put in front of her, but they’d behaved in that sort of fashion for the majority of their marriage. Was she not to trust Richard? It would have been more prudent to pay attention to something as large as mortgaging their house, but she was born in very much a “man’s world” and really, if he wasn’t having a proper relationship with Claire, he could have hidden an affair much easier. One that meant nothing.
