Transparent stains can maintain the original appearance of the wood grain to which it's applied. That makes it a good choice for a new, unstained surface that already looks great. If you're using brand new materials, then a clear or transparent stain might be the right choice. Tinted The manufacturer recommends 14 days for the stain to fully cure, meaning the stain has seeped into the wood to dry and fully achieve its color. PREPARATION: Ensure that the surface is clean, dry and free from dirt and dust and any previous finish. If sanding, the wood should be sanded with the grain, using 150 – 220 grit abrasive paper.
