About this deal

I often describe Oral-B brushes as providing an intense and almost aggressive clean. It’s the best way I can describe the sensation of the round brush head passing over the teeth and gums. It can be quite satisfying, your teeth instantly feel cleaner, but I know it’s not a sensation everyone likes. Particularly if you are used to the softer experience given by sonic toothbrushes from the likes of Philips Sonicare or Colgate. Your brushing time and technique have a far bigger impact on the cleaning results than the mode you use. Oral-B brushes are far more noisy than most electric toothbrushes, but the iO Series handles are quieter. The iO3 is the main exception though. No case comes supplied with the standard model. But there are variants where this is supplied. A selling point of the iO range is the cleaner and more minimal handle design. It has what many, myself included, believe to be a premium vibe.For me, the fancy charging stand isn’t too big a factor. If bathroom visuals are important to you, maybe the magnetic stand is worth paying for. Otherwise, you can get by just fine with the cheaper stand. The 3, 4, 5 and 6 all come with a standard Oral-B charger. White in colour, it has a protuberance on the top that fits into the base of the brush handle. There are some more differences between the cases to be aware of too. iO9 and 10 can be recharged whilst inside their travel case – requires separate power adapter The result is that the iO 7 cleans very well, but it is not the best. From all of Oral-Bs advertising rhetoric, you might think that this new technology and fancy brush head would somehow lead to a breakthrough in cleaning, but it doesn’t. The brush cleans well, but it isn’t clearly ahead of the other Oral-B brushes we tested, and it isn’t as good as the Sonicares. Unboxing The price has doubled also! The iO 7 comes with 5 available brushing modes. As we have said before, we aren’t a big fan of modes. We have found that the daily clean mode is pretty much all you need. If this brush causes some discomfort, we can see some value in having a sensitive mode, but remember that using this mode will also reduce the cleaning power.The Series 9 has 7 cleaning modes (daily clean, sensitive, super sensitive, intense, whiten, gum care & tongue clean) compared to the 5 of the Series 7 (daily clean, sensitive, intense, whiten & gum care). The extra modes the iO9 has are super sensitive and tongue clean. Of course, the table and quoted prices are just a guide. The actual selling prices vary from one retailer to another.
