I love a good isolated thriller mystery novel and The Hike is a fabulous example of a destination thriller. So, when she plans a vacation with her three best friends, she persuades them to spend four nights camping in the stunning mountains of Norway.

My thanks to HarperCollins for inviting me to review the book and providing me with a digital copy for that purpose. Magary's second novel (after The Postmortal) features elements reminiscent of Homer's Odyssey, Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series, Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, and the PC game King's Quest. The book is such an interesting read for children as young as 4 as there is so much to admire and learn about the young children’s hike but equally a great one for children beginning to read independently and thirsty for knowledge. The Hike was just incredible, a novel that features four women I sympathized and connected with, understanding the lifelong bonds we hold onto and the lifelong resentments we often keep close to our chests. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.I don’t usually go for books like this, so in case you’re wondering why I decided to give The Hike a try despite the publisher description clearly indicating that this will be a totally insane and off-the-wall experience, it was because of two words that jumped out at me: video games. As the women take in the crisp mountain air, the dark forests and the brilliant blue sky, they each set out with different ideas of how this much needed getaway will pan out.

Liz decided she was ready to do something different, so when she told her friends about a four-day adventure of wild hiking and camping in Norway they wondered if she was serious. This time around, not only was that true, but with each revelation, something else was twisted to reveal a new puzzle filled with just as much intensity. With more twists and turns than a mountain path, this story will have you turning the pages at breakneck speed and keep you guessing every step of the way.None of these four have much experience walking in the mountains, but Cat has been carefully planning this trip for weeks, and she’s excited for everyone to follow along. This book annoyed me a little why would a group of women travel to Norway to go hiking but not prepare themselves beforehand?

It's a wonder these people chose to go on holiday together and by the end most of them will have wished they hadn't. The murder has happened well before they arrive, but they find themselves somewhat embroiled in the aftermath while on their hike. The best description I can come up with for my mind-bending experience I had with this book can be summed up in the words of Jerry Garcia: “What a long, strange trip it’s been.

Wild meets Gone Girl in this breathlessly entertaining thriller, featuring toxic characters doing terrible things in a beautiful setting. The tension runs like a tight thread throughout the narrative; but though we never forget the threats that surround the group, getting closer all the time, we are allowed moments of wonder.
