Be prepared to empty it regularly though - the 2.5 litre capacity is relatively small. Other features include a full indicator and shut-off system, LED control panel (which isn't found on older Ebac models) and two fan speeds. The water container is front loading, which helps to prevent spillages when emptying the machine. We’re impressed with the energy efficiency of the 2650e. It has a maximum power consumption of 180W – even when on “High” fan mode. This is less than most dehumidifiers and means it’s cheaper to run.

It's also able to detect changes caused by bathing, making tea, weather or cooking, and then decide whether the machine should be turned on or off. This reduces energy usage. This isn’t a complaint, as the large water tank and powerful compressor naturally require more space, but it’s worth keeping in mind if you want to place the machine in a small room. The biggest downside is the weight. While Ebac claims it's ergonomically designed, it weighs a heavy 13kg. This means it's not easy to move around the home - especially as it only comes with recesses as handles. As you might expect from a premium machine, it is excellent at extracting water - especially from warmer rooms. It also has a timer and a clothes drying mode. One of the advantages of the 2650e is that it comes with Ebac’s Smart Control system. This, according to Ebac, improves on the standard humidistat feature found on many dehumidifiers by increasing energy efficiency. Once turned on, the dehumidifier will monitor the air humidity and only start working when needed.
