So for all of these reasons we congratulate Sogyal Rinpoche life’s work and also his great book, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, now in its 21st year.

One of the greatest was how to find Rinpoche's voice, that intimate, warm, clear and humorous voice that is so supremely eloquent when communicating live. The master knows that if people believe in a life after this one, their whole outlook on life will be different, and they will have a distinct sense of personal responsibility and morality. Isn't that why we have tried to fill every moment of time with noise and activity, however boring or trivial, to ensure that we are never left in silence with this stranger on our own? It's ironic that when I pick it up to read, there is an insight to something that's been going on in my life. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us.

It is a fine book, a clear-eyed contemporaray exploration of the profound insight of the Tibetan Book of the Dead.

Going deep, and digging up those fears, is an inevitable road one must take, to finds its true nature. It becomes really easy especially when we’re overworked, burning out and stressed with the rat race we’re running. This is not surprising when we consider that ancient texts from many cultures were meant to be recited.In fact, any attempt to think along these lines risks being dismissed as nonsensical and ridiculous.
