About this deal

Madoc - Madoc was the character that probably made me cry the most throughout this entire series. Loving people can be so very hard, and each journey is so very different, but Madoc just really amplifies these statements and it hurts (in the best way possible) to read. The parallels between him and Jude, both truly born in blood, and seeing the different paths they take to fight each other, while always loving each other, it’s really something that I don’t have words for, but it is truly heartbreakingly beautiful. He then meets with Nicasia, who tells him that someone shot her mother through the heart and the arrow won't move. After the Seafolk leaves, the Living Council meets once again to try and figure a plan to stop Madoc. Jude gets a letter from Taryn to meet her Hollow Hall, she excuses herself, however, Cardan insists on going with her. There they find the Ghost and Taryn. Taryn uses the Ghost's true name to make him forget Madoc's commands. The prophecy from his birth stated, "He will be the destruction of the crown and the ruination of the throne. Only out of his spilled blood can a great ruler rise." [4]

At Hollow Hall, Prince Balekin forces Cardan to demonstrate his skills with a sword and when Balekin easily overpowered Prince Cardan, Balekin tells him he is weak and instructs a human servant to beat Cardan with a belt. Prince Cardan grabs the sword and Balekin tells him to go ahead and kill the human, but Prince Cardan replies that he is not a murderer. As if that isn't enough, we have our lovely albeit rotten Queen of the Sea and her oh-so-sweet daughter, Nicasia, both of whom hate Jude with a fiery passion. It is clear that despite her previous betrayal Madoc does still care about Jude and wants her to join his side.Doll Bones is meant to be open ended. Not all the questions are answered, so readers can use their imagination if they want to. Feel free to speculate yourself— what do you think will happen? Was the ghost laid to rest? Was there ever a ghost at all? Will Poppy, Zach, and Alice stay friends? Will they keep playing some form of the game, and if so, as they grow up, how will the game change? Content and Trigger Warnings: death, murder, war themes, gore, blood depiction, talk of cannibalism, and torture. And with that power comes a safety Jude has never known. And she learns that she likes it. She craves it. And she will do anything in her power to keep her position. “I’ve wanted this and feared it, and now that it’s happening, I don’t know how I will ever want anything else.” But, her once simple plan seems to be fraying. Vivi - My 2019 bi-icon. I was rooting for Vivi and Heather so damn hard, and I was so scared at what Vivi was going to do this book, but she was amazing through and through. When she told Madoc to bring his entire army? The biggest flex in all of 2019 literature and I was quaking. Meanwhile, Prince Dain is to be crowned within months and he takes in Jude as a spy, due to her human ability to lie (which faeries cannot) and employs her in the Court of Shadows with a trio consisting of The Roach, The Bomb and The Ghost. Prince Dain gives Jude a geas that prevents her from being enchanted into obeying instructions from fae (mind magic). Jude begins a practice ofmithridatism– taking small doses of poison to become immune to its effects.

Coldest Girl in Coldtown was written as a stand-alone, but I know what happens next and I’ve been thinking more and more that a sequel could be in my future. Van, "The Roach": Member of the Court of Shadows; Dain's former spy and theft expert; Liliver's lover Cardan Greenbriar - And Cardan is probably my favorite character in literature. There, I said it. Are you happy now? Also, this book has a minor scene that really led me to believe that Cardan is pan or bi and the scream I screamed upon reading. (I’m so sorry, neighbors, if you’re reading this!) I thought I was too old or just completely over the concept of “book boyfriends” until Cardan Greenbriar decided to be created.

Even though I know they'll never truly reconcile, some small part of me wishes they would because honestly a Madoc and Jude team-up would be epic. They would have all of Faerie bending to their will. No question. Cardan: Bye, me enamoré (?). Worldbuilding: No words can capture and frame my love for this mystical, fairytaleish land of exotic, quiet allure, so I’m not even gonna try.

I needed more of Jude and Cardan's relationship; they went from supposed enemies to sleeping together, then the whole thing happened and then the super cheezy ending. And not much was shown in a way how their relationship is going to work. The beautiful dress Jude received for the coronation, which she thought was from Prince Dain, was actually from Cardan. [3] Taryn was never one of my favourites, but her part in this book makes her look less in my eyes. Even though she seems disturbed herself, she is too naïve and easily manipulated by her absolute desires of normalcy. And she’s stubborn about them too. the "politics" everyone loves in this one? girl. what politics. okay, technically, i guess it's politics, but i don't claim her, because a) i didn't understand it, so no i don't love it, i don't even know what's going on. i don't know what day it is or who just died. get your "politics" out of here. and b) it doesn't feel like politics, it feels like children playing dress up. children that don't know what they're doing and DEFINITELY SHOULDN'T BE DOING IT?? it's just a bunch of teenagers that need to be on a bunch of mood stabilizers. The Folk of the Air series has been reprinted into special editions by multiple companies including, illumicate, Fairyloot, and Barnes and Noble. In 2022 Litjoy also announced the complete special editions of The Folk of Air series. The next day, Orlagh asks for an audience with Cardan because of Balekin's death, as he was her ambassador to Elfhame. Jude admits to killing Balekin and as punishment, Cardan banishes Jude from Faerie.

What that ending was, I have no idea, but I turned from crying out of pure candid joy to crying out of frustration. Garrett, "The Ghost": Member of the Court of Shadows; Dain's former spy and shooting expert; Taryn's lover I spent much of my life guarding my heart. I guarded it so well that I could behave as though I didn’t have one at all.” What about Lady Asha and what she did. She was build up as this untrustworthy character, and then she was left out.

The Folk of the Air Series in Order (5 Books)

Eldred Greenbriar: Former high king; Father to Balekin, Elowyn, Dain, Rhiya, Caelia and Cardan; Killed by Balekin Taryn Duarte - Friends, I have a lot of feels. But I’m just going to say that I want few things in life as much as I want the novella, The Lost Sisters, that comes out October 2nd, 2018. I think it’s going to completely shatter everything we know about Taryn, and I’m ready for it.
