About this deal

Now I’ll go so far as to say these are a functional improvement over the last generation of citadel clippers. Both in use and the ergonomics. Whilst the last generation were the coolest-looking clippers around, they were uncomfortable for all but the people who had larger hands. For reference my glove size is Large and I found them a little too big. For the number of little things we need to cut, this frequently led to overextending fingers to the point they would mildly ache. And despite how cool they looked, this style also added to the weight. Whilst most of these new devices have some minor operational improvements over their predecessors. Gone is the rugged mechanical aesthetic in place of what feels like cheaply moulded generic tools, with a crude logo stencilled on. Honestly, and I do not say this lightly. This needs redesigning asap. It’s unusable. 2022 Refreshed Citadel Tools – Final Thoughts The sharpness is average, the cuts are alright, but I found it difficult to get really close to the components, so there was still a lot of excess plastic I had to cut away. That’s probably because the blades are still rather large, which makes it hard to reach tight areas in a sprue. Still, the build quality is pretty decent, but for the price they’re asking, I would probably invest in a pair of single-blade nippers. Dual vs single-blade

The old knife’s angular handle also lead to slips and because of it’s more defined angular shape, a slight twist would easily become a 90-degree pivot.

Who signed this off? I totally understand the simplification of the tool names in the case of the other products. This is an entry-level set. Keep it simple because that’s perfect to onboard hobby beginners. But if you are gonna do it,

This is again an easy recommendation. You can get these pretty cheap online, but the cheap ones tend to have shoddy or stiff movement, and despite trying many over the years I still default to my 10+ year old Citadel drill. The one catch with the new design is that the collar that holds the bit is not large. I have a (relatively) large bit for countersinking magnets and it’s simply not going to fit in the new drill. I got away with stretching out the old collar because it was double-sided, there’s no chance of that here. Still, I rarely magnetize these days so this is a minor consideration. Knife An additional safety measure is a collar around the blade. Directly above the blade is a thumb grip. The point where you need to add pressure has a ridged sheath, No longer am I pressing down directly on top of the blade itself. Then right where your index finger sits mid-cut, the blade handle has a concave curve to support the correct placement. again, much much safer. Well, when it comes to cutting fine details. And even I can’t believe I’m going to say this (honestly these articles write themselves). They are fine… This is great, the most annoying part of pin vice drill collets is having to swap the various collets for different-sized drill bits. This allows for any sized drill bit and makes swapping and changing easier. So what do you I think? I really liked my Micro-Mark seam scraper and if you live in the US, I recommend getting this, as it is cheaper and is able to reach small gaps as well. The Citadel Mouldline Remover is perfectly servicable, with minor limitations. It doesn’t come cheap, but I think it will last a while and when you compare its price tag to specialist hobby tools from Tamiya, it’s not too bad actually. This is perfect for this review as we have a few not-positive things to say. But I also need to apologise to GW, because I’ve been humping their legs for the last 4 years trying to get included in this exclusive club. Only for my first review to be their tools. And whilst I don’t hate them, I don’t love them either. The rubbery shell is an addition to comfort. The rounded body has a comfortable girth to be held for hours. (grow up) and less to a flat part at the tip so that you can pinch it snugly between your fingers. (seriously, grow up) I would love to sit in a room with the person who designed this, and the person who signed it off for production. I’d love to know if either of them used it. Oh no, I’m not going to go easy on this at all. Like the others, it has a more ergonomic handle than the previous offering. it’s got curves in all the right places. My favourite parts are how and where the blade is held.

Let’s start with the new mouldline remover tool. To be honest, I wasn’t a big fan of the old Citadel mouldline remover. I found the blade was just too large for anything other than tanks and large scenery pieces, and the (for safety reasons) rounded tip made it impossible to reach into tight spots. Comparison of the new and old Citadel Mouldline RemoverBy the way, you can find a more detailed comparison of 8 hobby grade cutters and nippers over on my Patreon. The alternatives: So, I can’t see anything on these that would stop the blades from mashing together, in fact, it was clear that the blades (let’s call them cutting-edges as we can’t confirm if both are blades) were touching. Also known as a “pin vice” the Citadel Drill has a lot of uses. If you’ve never used one of these, they’re a hand drill designed for very small bits. Most of them have an end cap that pivots freely so you can brace the drill against your palm and turn the drill with your fingers.
