While we have enjoyed other David Walliams books such as Gangsta Granny, Mr Stink and The Midnight Gang we found that Awful Auntie along with Demon Dentist are our favourites.Because that is also what the problem is with the books, they are over-the-top, overkill and trying way too hard to be funny. Nonetheless my 8 and 9 year old children think it’s great, funny, creepy and cool, and let’s face it, it wasn’t written for me was it! The illustrations are still fantastic and I still really like them, and they are still another big reason why I still read these books. So Gibbon continued to roam Saxby Hall carrying on with his duties, though in a totally topsy-turvy way. I give this book five stars because I love how the girl and the ghost teamed up together to get payback on her auntie and how the ghost ended up being the girls uncle. But not everything Alberta tells her turns out to be true and Stella quickly discovers she’s in for the fight of her life against her very own awful Auntie!
