About this deal

Essentially set sugar with some citric acid, colour and flavouring, these hard lollies have been used by many a parent to keep their kids quiet on long car journeys after the 87th game of I Spy… apparently… we obviously don’t advocate such things. Originally marketed as breath fresheners when launched in 1946, Parma Violets were regularly sold in pubs. It soon became apparent they were better suited to sweet shops though. It is worth mentioning that none of these is likely to appeal too much to those who have chosen veganism for health reasons; some of these – for example, Refreshers Chew Bars, contain almost 90% sugar! Top Vegan Swizzels Sweets The introduction comes at the same time as a major rebrand for Rowntree’s, which covers Fruit Pastilles, Fruit Gums and Jelly Tots as well as Randoms. Brand new variants of Rowntree’s Randoms – Nestlé’s randomly shaped, fruit flavoured sweets – are being introduced to coincide with its tenth birthday and a major refresh of the Rowntree’s brand.

Butterscotch– No prizes for guessing what the non-vegan ingredient is in the Butterscotch sweets made by Swizzels. Yep, gelatine. Not really, it’s butter. Nestlé has launched new variants of Rowntree’s Randoms to coincide with the fruit-flavoured sweet range’s tenth anniversary. The introduction coincides with a major refresh of the Rowntree’s brand.Unwanted Food or Drink Products - Once supply conditions are broken, there are a number of factors outside of our control that can affect the quality of a product. Therefore perishable goods such as food and drink cannot be returned. Since their launch in 1977, many parents have bought these for their kids thinking they would be a fun treat… and then never bought them again having been driven to near insanity by the high-pitched noise they emit. During the London Blitz, Swizzels decided to head north to Derbyshire to get out of the firing line, where they have remained ever since. Over the years Swizzels (called Swizzels Matlow Ltd since 1975) have released various sweets with the following being some of the more notable offerings: Sweet The new shapes were designed by a Nestlé employee who has worked for the firm for almost three decades and will carefully hand carve the mould for each new sweet before it is taken to mass production. There are over 100 shapes, in four different textures and six different flavors. Billions of combinations Sharing bags containing only Squish’ems (squishy foam and fruity jelly in one sweet), Foamies (foamy sweets) and now sour sweets, Randoms Sours, are joining the existing range of Rowntree’s Randoms as of this week. A fourth sharing bag, Randoms Easter mix, is a seasonal selection of random Easter related shapes on sale now for the Easter season.

Fun Gums– Coming in some flavours that don’t exactly scream out their vegan credentials – such as Pigs’ Mugs, Milk Bottles, and Fried Eggs – these are unlikely to appeal to many vegans anyway, which is just as well because they contain gelatine.Technically speaking, though, palm oil is vegan in the same way that avocados and almonds are vegan despite there being environmental or animal exploitation concerns. It is clearly each person’s prerogative to decide whether or not they should consume food items that contain palm oil, and we’ll leave that up to you to decide. Not the Healthiest The introduction of new choices in the Rowntree’s Randoms range comes at the same time as a major re-brand for Rowntree’s which covers Nestlé’s full range of sugar sweets including Fruit Pastilles, Fruit Gums and Jelly Tots as well as Randoms. In addition to the new shapes, the green sweets, currently lime-flavoured, will now be apple-flavoured after the change proved more popular in testing. All of the sweets continue to contain no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
