Bruce Daisley thinks this is simply untrue, and in this book takes the notion of resilience apart, explains how it really works, and puts forward a new programme for building self-confidence and tenacity. Although there is still some value in some of these teachings, Bruce Daisley suggests resilience should not be viewed as a personal trait. He points out that much of the discussions around resilience are about a perceived lack of it in other people and an implied criticism that individuals just need to dig deeper to be more resilient.
