About this deal

I used the MC-11 with the A7R III and the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM, EF 50mm f/1.8 II, EF 100mm f/2.0 and EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lenses. I found the autofocus (AF) worked well with each of them although as you might expect, the performance was better with the higher-grade optics.

KANAGAWA, JAPAN — February 23, 2016 – Sigma Corporation of America, a leading DSLR lens, camera, flash and accessories manufacturer, today announced the release of its new high-performance Sigma Global Vision lens converter – the Mount Converter MC 11 – for Sony E-mount, full frame and APS-C sensor cameras. With the new MC-11, Sony camera users will be able to utilize 19 Global Vision lenses in Sigma Canon Mount (EOS) and Sigma Mount (SA). It doesn't focus at the same speed as Sony native lens. Example: My Sony 24-70 f2.8 takes less than half a second to acquire focus. While the adapted lens takes at minimum half a second to a second. If that half a second is required for you. Than you better off getting the native lens. The MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11 allows you to use your SIGMA EOS mount interchangeable lenses with the Sony E-mount camera body. Note: The adapter exists in two versions: SA (Sigma mount) and EF (Canon mount). For this article I tested the EF version. I have the Sigma 104/1.4 and four other Sigma DC lenses - all bought for and used on M4/3 camera bodies with Metabones adapters. They work perfectly as do all but one Canon EF lens. The previously mentioned Canon EF 50/1.8 MkII plastic fantastic - which seems a bit of a rogue on all adapters. Basically - to all extents and purposes it is possible to use EF lenses on M4/3 camera bodies without having to research and study lens compatibility lists. M4/3 users can rest assured.Metabones adapters EF-M4/3 are almost 100% compatible will all EF mount lenses from any source manufacturer. Viltrox, maybe not so much but even they they achieve a higher compatibility rate than the Sigma MC-21 does with L-Mount. The adapter transmits all the necessary information to the camera including EXIF data. Distortion, chromatic aberration and vignetting are automatically corrected in the OOC JPG if you have the settings to Auto in the camera. In Lightroom you just need to select Sigma in the Brand drop-down menu and the correct lens profile is loaded automatically. This is not the case. While the technology has been floating around for some time, converters/adapters have now began maturing to the point where virtually any lens system, even those with advanced autofocus and profiles, can be used to full effect with power-punching mirrorless camera set ups. But not all adapters are created equal. Enter the Sigma MC-11 converter ↓ With a lens that features optical stabilisation, you activate or de-activate it with the switch on the lens even with cameras that feature in-body stabilisation such as the A7r II. The camera will use 3 axes on the sensor and the 2 axes on the lens.

Typically - new adapter manufacturers find it hard to get to do AF at all - then when they do it seems to need re-tries to get the best focus.

New Sigma Global Vision Lens Mount Converter Expands High-Performance Lens Options for Sony Cameras Very recently, Fotodiox has released their Fusion adapter in EF-L which I am now testing for compatibility. So far it is doing much better than the MC-21 - not only being just as compatible with my Sigma EF mount lenses as the MC-21 but being much more compatible with Canon EF mount lenses - why have a MC-11 or MC-21 if you have any EF mount lenses other than those made by Sigma? Zuerst und fairerweise: Ich weiß dass der Adapter offiziell nur Sigma Unterstützung bietet aber ich habe ihn extra zum Test mit Canon Linsen gekauft! Both the MC-21 and the Fotodiox Fusion work my Canon 50/1.2L very well. But the 14/2.8L; 24/1.4; 85/1.2L; 135/2.0L; even 100-400/4.5-5.6; and others work on the Fusion but are not an MC-21 bonus. I would like to know which lenses are not a bonus on the MC-11 before I go and buy myself an A7Riv and a MC-11 and naively expect the bonus to cover them.

New Sigma Global Vision Lens Mount Converter Expands High-Performance Lens Options for Sony Cameras

It is as extensive as I an make it - there are a huge range of EF mount lenses in circulation - I can only do what I can but I do own more EF mount lenses than most. Nor am I going to buy more recent Sony bodies to test the compatibility further. The light’s color and frequency tells you a number of things about the lens you have attached to the converter: Functionally, the converter performs as advertised and depending on your expectations perhaps even better. The AF speed with my Sigma test lens were great and that was the selling point for this author. This is certainly a converter that I would use daily without hesitation.
