The honesty was stark and for me this is the book's raison d'etre; Gordon's reasoning about how the world 'worked' or how it didn't and his self analysis was unflinchingly honest, cringe worthy and sometimes downright funny. Complete Celebration Hymnal, The (incorporating New Songs of Celebration) – McCrimmon Publishing Company Ltd 1991 This book is a one-volume compilation of the hymn books "Come and Praise 1" (1978) and "Come and Praise 2" (1989). The above is according to Allen and Ulwin and requires, I think, a little translation; ‘frank’ means there is a lot of sex and ‘utterly’ that the sex in question is not always very pleasant so if you are not used to reading about sex it may be a bit confrontational at times. I wish I could translate the ‘darkly humorous’ however at no point did I find any humour at all in the novel, so you are on your own there.

The book is an all-age collection - although with a focus on schools, many of the songs are particularly suitable for children.

I can even recall when I first began to experience or to see God. I must have been aged about six and, as we sang 'Sing Hosanna', I became aware of God near me and also in my mind.
