They are funny chapters like where are the mother discovers her sons browsing history on the computer. Lost in Translation: Hiroki's Exact Words moment in Chapter 28 is partly based on the fact that in Japanese language, subjects can, and often are, dropped if the context is clear, which means Hiroki is reading a list of gender-neutral descriptors and still sound natural to his friends. Endearingly Dorky: Hiroki is a young, easily excited, and sweet boy that gets really flustered and is very obviously in love with one of his classmates. So, that takes me to a manga that gets at some of this reality, though wrapped in wholesome and truly loving family dynamics: I Think Our Son is Gay.

Okura’s pages brim with charming visual characterisation that pulls us into the very heart of the characters’ struggles and endeavours, with extremes of reaction capturing their personalities with a heightened intensity. Both Hiroki and Yuri have a positive relationship with him, and all the same Akiyoshi reveals casual queerphobia that has an obvious impact on Hiroki. The bestselling LGBTQ+ graphic novel about life, love, and everything that happens in between: this is the fifth volume of the Heartstopper series. I have to say, this was quite a wholesome manga with the mum knowing her son, Hiroki is in love with his best friend Daigo.

High-Pressure Emotion: This is Tomoko's response when she notices Daigo uses a picture of him and Hiroki as his phone's wallpaper, because it looks like the relationship might possibly be reciprocated. He’s most likely trying to present an image of himself to her as the son he – perhaps – imagines she would like him to be but constantly keeps Freudianly slipping up.

Shaw's impressive vocal range — from the imperious Claire to the timid Lily, makes this audiobook version the best way to enjoy I'm in Love with the Villainess. Though Tomoko is content to cheer on her son from the sidelines and let him work things out for himself, Hiroki’s slips of the tongue are hard to ignore! Teacher/Student Romance: Hiroki had a one-sided Precocious Crush on his math teacher in middle school and paid extra effort on math to impress him. She talks with her coworkers about being respectful of a gay colleague, and even finds a respectful way to talk with him about Hiroki.
