The next part of the route takes you through more rolling hills, Frogmore Meadow Nature Reserve and close to the village of Chenies. This village is famous for its 15th century Tudor house – Chenies Manor, however the walking route doesn’t go directly past, so you’d need to factor in a little detour if you want to see it for yourself. Where do you want to go in England?The coastline features a staggering landscape of 40,00 hexagonal basalt columns that were formed 60 million years ago. The Stiperstones circular walk is 5.5 miles (9 kms) long that’ll take you around 2 to 3 hours to complete. For me, this is one of the best things to do in Shropshire. These rare landscapes are home to some remaining fragments of Caledonian Pine Forest as well as plenty of endangered birds. Loch Maree has steep sides and lots of islands Enjoy a clifftop walk from the stunning bay at Lulworth Cove to the region’s most famous landmark, Durdle Door. There are well over 30,000 freshwater lochs (lakes) in the Scottish highlands, but none are as famous as Loch Ness.

We’d recommend visiting Bibury, Moreton in Marsh, Bourton on the Water, Upper and Lower Slaughter and Broadway… but, there are so many more gorgeous spots to recommend. There are daily tours from London, but we’d recommend a longer trip. Book a hotel for a few nights, enjoy a country walk followed by a classic English cream tea, then cosy up in the evening in front of a log fire in a country manor. From delving into the depths of the earth visiting old slate mines to taking a ride through the forest on a steam powered locomotive, Portmerion is a fantastic place to visit in 2022. 22. Beat an escape room in London Beat an escape room in London Dinosaurs, whales, and volcanoes — oh my! You’ll find these fan favourites and much more at London’s Natural History Museum. It felt like such a shame after the lovely escape of lush countryside to be staring at speedy traffic! It’s a short patch of the route, but if you’re looking to reduce your walk by a few miles, you could look at joining around Chorleywood instead. Wildlife along the Chess Valley Walk Well, my latest fave is AIM Escape Rooms over in Aldgate. I recently completed their Deja Brew “Hangover” themed escape room and it was brilliant. It was definitely one of the best I’ve done in a long time. Both Chloe & I have been on a few day trips from London recently where we took on the Beachy Head walk in Eastbourne and the Chess Valley walk in Chesham.

The first section of the walk is quite confusing with lots of different directions to follow. I nearly got lost a couple of times, so I thought it’d be a good idea to go into each direction in detail. I really want to make sure you guys know where you’re going! With its historic castle, natural beauty and buzzy city centre, Edinburgh is a great city to visit all year round. However, visit during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August and you’re in for a real treat. Don’t miss the Edinburgh Fringe Festival These picturesque islands are home to diverse landscapes, including beautiful moorland, rugged coastlines and wetlands – all of which are loved by animals. How cute are these Puffins in the Orkney Isles, Scotland? Loads of famous people hail from Essex. Jamie Oliver, Rupert Grint, David Gandy, Ross Kemp, Russell Brand, Sir Alistair Cook, Anne-Marie, Olly Murs, Dame Maggie Smith, Dame Helen Mirren – the list goes on and on. Dermot O’Leary also was born in Colchester, Essex.It passes pretty towns like Sidmouth and fishing villages such as Beer too. You’re also likely to see some great wildlife around Otter Estuary Nature Reserve, so this part of the coast path offers a bit of everything, without being too challenging. Explore the Lake District National Park At the start of 2019 we headed to the South Downs and enjoyed a very special weekend away. It was themed around stargazing, as the South Downs National Park is one of a handful of international dark sky reserves in the world. Soak up the history of Amersham then treat yourself to Michelin-starred lunch at The Artichoke (one of our 21 Great British experiences). If you’re looking for those Caribbean vibes while staying in the British Isles this year, then Herm Island is the place for you. 12. Located in Rhyl, the SkyFlyer is essentially a giant blimp. Riders will be taken 400ft into the sky on board a gondola set on a 15m platform below the SkyFlyer. Over the summer months, we’re keen to showcase some of the best day trips from London. As we both adore getting out and exploring the stunning British countryside, we’ve been busy looking for places we can get to easily. We don’t have a car, so a key element is that we need to be able to reach the location by public transport. Obviously there are a fair few other Epping Forest walks to choose from. If you’d like to visit Connaught Water and Strawberry Hills Pond, two of the most popular places to visit in Epping Forest, then you’ll want to head to Loughton station. On the other side of Epping Forest is Waltham Abbey. This is a lovely place to base yourself for exploring Epping Forest. The benefit of staying in Waltham Abbey is there are loads of pubs and restaurants to choose from. This Marriott Hotel is a really lovely option for a relatively cheap night in a quality hotel. There are frequent sign posts dotted along the trail. To follow the Oak Trail, you want the ones with the yellow arrows (they’re the only signposts I saw to be fair). It connects13 different UNESCO destinations, reaching from the biosphere in the south of Scotland to the island of St Kilda in the west, TheNorth WestHighlands Geopark, and the creative cities in the east, and much more in between. This is another section of walk I really enjoyed. Keep your eyes peeled because on the left side of the path you’ll find a ‘Wellness Walks’ plaque. Flip it open and give it a read – there’s some very good advice inside.
