A United States Dime is 10 cents. The word dime translates from the old French ‘disme’ meaning ‘tenth part’. The front of the dime displays an olive branch, torch and oak branch to symbolise ‘liberty, peace and strength’. The reverse depicts President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Finding a dime is often considered ‘a sign of love’ from someone who has passed away. The date on the coin or the place that it was found also holds a significance.
