With Moonface, Saucepan Man and Silky the pixie, they explore the amazing lands to be found at the top of the tree – the Land of Spells, the Land of Toys, and the tempting Land of Goodies, but then one day Moonface, Silky and Saucepan Man disappear mysteriously.

Jo has a rather trying time in one place they visit because it's the Land of Topsy-Turvy and when he is rather aggressive with a policeman he's immediately turned upside down and has to walk on his hands. Cover with a clean tea towel and let it sit for about an hour in a warm spot - it should double in size. The plot follows two new children, Robin and Joy, who have read The Enchanted Wood and want to join in the adventures.The Saucepan Man's mother decides to live in the tree, leaving her job as a baker in Dame Slap's land. In 1997, stories from the novels were adapted into animated ten-minute episodes for the TV series Enid Blyton's Enchanted Lands. Roll each piece into a ball and place them together in the pan, they should be somewhat tight and touching. Dick (later Rick), the cousin of Jo, Bessie and Fanny, comes to stay and he joins the secret adventures in the lands of the Faraway Tree.

Place the bowl onto your stand mixer with the dough hook and add two more cups of flour - gradually add another 1/2 cup of flour at a time fo your dough is super sticky. I used a hot cross bun recipe, I really wanted that fluffy texture that’s not quite so sweet, with the subtle spiced flavours to have as a direct comparison to the burst of sweet sherbet from the inside. They chase the gnome and recover the papers, but the gnome himself escapes up a huge tree whose branches seem to reach into the clouds.

There is also a visit to The Old Woman who Lives in a Shoe and you can imagine how uncomfortable that could turn out to be, and — "Is it a bird? Soon they were all sitting on the broad branches outside Moon-Face’s house, eating Pop Biscuits and Google Buns.

Dame Slap, who runs a school for bad pixies which, in some of the adventures, the friends accidentally land in. Many dangerous, fascinating and even hilarious situations occur as we accompany the children on their adventures and sometimes a visit to the tree will become so involved that it may take up two or more chapters during which the characters stray into deeper and darker circumstances. The children often enter the wood to climb this Faraway Tree right up to where the Fairy-Tale places are and one place they visited was Rocking Land and it was rather unpleasant because whilst you are there the ground tips up and sideways and you keep falling over. They encounter a pair of rabbits, who dig a hole for the children to help them escape the land when they discover that the hole back to the tree had closed up after the ground turned above it.

It's a table soaring skyward with the children squeezed on it followed by a bench bearing Moon-Face, Silky and Saucepan and if you don't believe a situation like this could take place just take a look at the Dorothy Wheeler picture.

Place the yeast, 1 teaspoon of sugar and the lukewarm water in bowl for your stand mixer and leave to foam up for a few minutes. While the original description of Google Buns are that they contain a large currant filled with sherbet, it was really hard to find any currants bigger than sultanas around my local area, so I cheated and used dried apricots. Next day they are off to the Enchanted Wood and Dick hears the leaves on the trees making a soft sound in the breeze — "Wisha, Wisha, Wisha! Dick and the girls go up the tree again to join Jo, Moon-Face, Saucepan and Silky and then things go from bad to worse.
