About this deal

This book provides basic information of Islam. It is credited with transforming lives of numerous people wordwide and bring serenity and peace in the hearts.

However, the hadīth mentioned in Fadh ā il A’m ā l does not negate repentance as might be erroneously understood by some. If a person repents with sincerity for delaying his sal āh and starts offering sal āh again then he will be forgiven by the Mercy of Allah, Insha-Allah and entered into Paradise as mentioned in the Qur ān: [viii] Allah will not unite the Ummah of Mohammad upon misguidance. Allah’s help is with the majority. Whoever deviates from them will be thrown into the fire of Jahannam.” (Sunan Tirmizi p.39 v.2) Mehmet (1988–2016). "KANDEHLEVÎ, Muhammed Zekeriyyâ". TDV Encyclopedia of Islam (44+2 vols.) (in Turkish). Istanbul: Turkiye Diyanet Foundation, Centre for Islamic Studies. First of all, it is very important to understand that the overall meaning of the had ī th (severe punishment for neglecting or delaying sal ā h beyond its proper time) is supported from authentic had ī th . This is with the condition that the person does not repent and is not remorseful over what he did.

Revised translation of TABLIGHI NISAAB

Finally, we should bear in mind that the pious and learned amongst the Ummah cannot be unanimous upon something that is false or not part of Islam. The Prophet of Allah has said: The punishment of the grave was heard and made manifest onto others. (See Hayat al-Sahabah 3/777,841). In the same manner, the washing off of sins in wudu is something we believe in because of the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and give him peace), although it is also part of the unseen. The early Bengali translations of Fazail-e-Amaal have a rich history that spans several decades. In the 1940s, Abdul Majid, the editor of the magazine Nedaye Islam, made the first translation of the Virtues of Prayer from the Fada'il series and another book, both of which were published in Calcutta. Subsequently, when the combined version of the Fada'il series, Tablighi Nisab, was released, Ambar Ali took on the task of translating the entire book, which was published by the Tablighi Library in Dhaka. [8]

Are these claims by many untrue that Tablighi Nisab, Hayatus Sahaba, Fazail Amaal contain weak and fabricated naraations? We definitely agree with the literal translation of the title of that book, but the object of the author was not to mention fabricated hadiths only. In fact, he mentions hadiths that some ‘ulama claim to be fabricated and then challenges that ruling. In some instances, he concedes to the verdict of those ‘ulama and in others he differs and proves the authenticity of these hadiths. The proverb is famous, “Don’t judge a book by its cover!” After the establishment of the Tablighi Jamaat, Ashraf Ali Thanwi used to provide certain books as part of the Tabligh curriculum. For example, books like Bahishti Zewar were included for the students' study and teaching. [4] However, Ilyas Kandhlawi wished to introduce a fixed curriculum and write a permanent book specifically for the Jamaat's students. For this purpose, he instructed his nephew Zakariyya Kandhlawi to write a book that could be included in the curriculum as a standard reference. Consequently, Zakariyya Kandhlawi wrote books on the Virtues of Prayer, Virtues of Remembrance (Dhikr), Virtues of Propagation (Tablig), and Virtues of Charity. Later, upon the request of his paternal cousin Yusuf Kandhlawi, he also wrote a book on the Virtues of Hajj. Following that, as per the instructions of his spiritual mentor, Abdul Qadir Raipuri, he compiled previously written articles such as The Story of the Companions and others. At the command of Shah Yasin Naginawi, a disciple of Rashid Ahmad Gangohi, he combined previously written articles on the Virtues of the Quran and Virtues of Durood. [4] In approximately 1955, a collection of these works was published in two volumes under the title Tablighi Nisab. A single-volume version was published in 1958, and it also became famous under the name Fazail-e-Amaal. [5] Methodology [ edit ] Quoted in al-Kandahlawi, Muhammad Zakariyya (১৭ জুলাই ২০১৩)। Al-Munajjid, Muhammad Salih, সম্পাদক। "Critique of the book Fadaa'il al-A'maal"। Islam Question & Answer, islamqa.info (ইংরেজি ভাষায়) । সংগ্রহের তারিখ ২১ আগস্ট ২০২০। উদ্ধৃতি টেমপ্লেট ইংরেজি প্যারামিটার ব্যবহার করেছে ( link) A common comment made against Fazail-e-A’mal is that some of the narrations mentioned in it are weak and fabricated. This comment is not totally correct, as there are no fabricated narrations in this book. There are dha’eef (weak) narrations in Fazail-e-A’mal. However, it is important to point out that the word dha’eef, literally translated as ‘weak’, is a terminology and should not be understood in its general sense. Its application is based on the rules explained in the sciences of hadith. Moreover, weak narrations are not acceptable only in regards to aqeedah and the rulings of Islamic jurisprudence. Majority of the scholars have accepted weak narrations as far as virtues of good deeds are concerned. Even Imam Bukhari (Rahimahullah) has brought weak narrations in his book, Al Adabul Mufrad, which shows that he also accepts weak narrations in regards to virtues of good deeds.”

The translation of the Virtues of Prayer was carried out by Abu Mahmud Hedayet Hossen, a former teacher of Faridabad Madrasa, with a foreword by Abdul Aziz, Amir of Bangladesh Tabligh Jamaat. Although he began translating other books in the series, he couldn't complete them due to his passing. In 1969, Abdullah bin Said Jalalabadi translated Virtues of Ramadan, which was first published by the Bangladesh Islamic Propagation Office in 1975. In 1983 and 1984, Muhammadullah Hafezzi's edition, along with an introduction, was published by the Mahanabi Memorial Council. [9] Later, the complete translation was released by Sakhawatullah from the Tablighi Library. [10] Finally, in 2001, Muhammad Obaidullah obtained permission from the leaders of Tablighi Jamaat Bangladesh to translate the entire work, which was then published by Darul Kitab. In this instance, Allah manifested for Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) what remained unseen to the rest of those that were present in that gathering. So, acts of kashf have taken place many a time and its refutation is a clear result of ignorance. I am 24 years old. How can I get lots of success in akhirah and in the world make lots of virtues and money for Islam and our family? The writing of the book Fazail Amaal took a span of 35 years. It started in 1930 and was completed in 1965. The reason for this lengthy duration is that the book was never entirely planned out by Maulana Zakariyya (RA). Each section was written at different times on the dying wish and requests from many legendary personalities. It was thus written with full Ikhlas, never to seek fame or name.

Maulana Zakariya passed away on 24 May 1982 at Madinah al-Munawarah. He was 84 years old at that time. He was buried in ‘Jannatul Baqi’ the grave of the Sahaba. Many took this as a sign that he was a man of Haq, despite criticisms of his work. Maulana Zakariyya spent his whole life in the service of Deen. I would like to know your opinion on reading the book Fazail-e-Amaal by Maulana Muhammed Zakariya Kandhhalvi R.A. Many Saudi Alims have issued fatwas on the reading of the mentioned kitab that it contains too many weak and fabricated hadiths and that it is not permissible to read it. Please comment. [N Ahmed (UK)] The authenticity of ahadith depends on the sanad of the hadith. However, the verification of the sanad being sound or not is the function of the muhadditheen. For the layman, he should rely on literature of reliable Ulama. Fazaail A’maal is compiled by Hazrat Shaikh Zakariyya (RA). The only reason people will object on Faizaail A’maal is because they do not know the high and lofty academic status of Hazrat Shaikh Zakariyya (RA).
