I ignored most of the features, moving all my home run network cables from the DLink 10/100/1000T 24-port DGS-1024D over to the HP 1810, noticing an immediate improvement in response time throughout the network. It has all the features that an IT administrator would look for (VLAN's, traffic shaping, port loop protection, etc) but with the simplicity of a web interface. All support flexible deployment options, including mounting on walls, under tables, or on desktops; some are fanless, ideal for office deployments.

Locator LED (switch): allows users to set the locator LED on a specific switch to either turn on, blink, or turn off; simplifies troubleshooting by making it easy to locate a particular switch within a rack of similar switches. We use one in the home/office and have been extremely pleased with it over the past 12 months or so - so far it hasn't required rebooting, is silent and seems to run fairly cool even with heavy use and it's easy to set up teaming/trunking with ubuntu and ESXi - I haven't tried setting up teaming for any other OS' yet. Replaced with 1810G-24 because we are switching the network cabling to Cat6 and need Gigabit performance.The heaviest use it sees is maxxing out a couple of gigabit connections to two workstations and streaming movie content to two or three media players at once, though, so we're really not pushing the boundaries in terms of performance. The switch's settings can be tweaked, but also works well 'out of the box' if you don't have much experience with setting up networks. Hasn't missed a beat yet, and it has been mostly sitting in ambient temperatures of 32C over the hot summer.
