About this deal

Had this when I was in university about 13 years ago and it was an amazing fragrance with good lasting power. Gucci Pour Homme is my absolute favorite men's cologne on the market today--because of its "perfectly modernized" 70s/80s scent! Some users wrote that it reminds them of a glamourous hippie and indeed I look like one wearing this perfume: a dark leather jacket, a chic white blouse, nice pair of blue jeans and leather shoes, with some silver earrings, watch and bracelet, a dark nail polish and wavy and long dark hair. The opening notes of patchouli reminded me a lot of Midnight Poison, and this nostalgia is the primary reason why I got Gucci by Gucci. The fragrance is so well-blended, and projects with the full sense of hard work and detail so legendarily accustom to the art of luxury craftsmanship.

Unfortunately the juice is nothing like the woody chypres of old that this one appears to be implying from the packaging it IS. It’s most impressive because I usually dislike strong honey notes, but this scent is refreshingly bold and complex. The perfect invocation of the modern woman, Gucci by Gucci is sophisticated and elegant, yet passionate and sensual. One thing I can say about this though is that it sets my déja-vu haywire - some 'fumes do that - some more than others: and this one does it to me a very great deal . The bottle is already in the major leagues of design, perfect for collection even if you don't like the contents. Versatility: 4 out of 5 – This scent is very versatile; it works well for day/night, autumn/winter, office-based work/formal occasions and for men over 25. The dry down of this fragrance on bare uncovered skin is where everything falls apart - I never get the beautiful, UNIQUE dry down that I get when I have fabric covering my skin.

I like it more in winter, but it can be used in summer evenings by paying attention to the number of sprays.

I do tend to avoid wearing it too often since it reminds me so much of my mother (it's her signature fragrance) but it is a lovely perfume. I remembered it as a sharp but good fruitchouli, and got me a sample not too long ago to retest, mainly because I love guava scents. I do get the Tiare flowers as part of this creaminess, and there is a slightly fruity note that I couldn't put my finger on.

I can smell the amber and patchouli on dry-down, and it adds depth, which combines to make a great masculine accord. I didn't think I would like this when seeing the notes, but I got a bottle in a swap and its fast becoming a favorite. i like the manly character inside this juice, nothing like the freshy-teeny-sweety fragrances of today. This is not your hippy variety patchouli, and as Amandy points out below, it's apparently the source of the delicious woodiness.when I tested it I sure liked the masculinity in the scent so I purchased it and didn’t have time to test performance. I really do enjoy this bottle but I tend to run out of juice pretty fast as this is my second bottle.

i remember when it first came out in 2008, i discovered this edt maybe one year later with a sample from a friend. So, with bare skin, the dry down of this just turns murky, stale, no fruits, and the fragrance Always just falls apart, BUT if my skin is covered with fabric after I apply the perfume, the strangest thing occurs: it almost ‘lifts’ and transforms into a slightly brighter, more feminine version of itself with the fruits flanked by beautiful patchouli and honey. Not for me, but I could imagine that this really depends on the wearer‘s skin and works better on others. Not tried the original pour homme, but I'm guessing it's in the same style as Rochas Lui, which I like a lot, but Gucci by Gucci will always be my favourite, or it was until Gucci butchered it. It's a heavy (probably because of that patchouli and white floral tiare flower) womanly scent that's kind of reminiscent of "Ricci Ricci" (not scent-wise at all), and the added sweet, luscious honey makes me think of a wealthy aunt who gives bear hugs and loans her over-the-top jewelry.

The opening of this scent is almost minty, the cypress and violet really play nicely off of each other and the citrus is present, but restrained. For me, it is a scent that I would go to on those day I can't decide what mood I am in as it does have that neutral sort of aura, and I think it's important to have one of those, for me anyway.
