Das klassische Buch in der Schule. Das Buch, dass dich mit dem Thema Drogen aufklären soll. Ja sicher. Gut geschrieben. Sicher so geschrieben dass man danach sagt: Drogen sind nicht gut. A quei tempi fece parecchia presa sulla me adolescente, dandomi la giusta dose di timore, tanto che ripetevo in loop nella mia mente, che mai e poi mai avrei ceduto al richiamo delle droghe; oggi rileggendo qualche pagina, prima di passarlo a mia figlia, mi ha suscitato ansia, quell'ansia da genitrice che teme le amicizie sbagliate, teme il senso di insoddisfazione perenne dei ragazzi di oggi e che potrebbero essere tentati. This book is a literal masterpiece. I watched the movie ‘Christiane F.’ Which heavily influenced me to read the book to understand her story on a deeper level. The movie genuinely did not do this book justice. Don’t get me wrong; the movie is FANTASTIC, but there were so many things that were stated in the book that were never brought up in the film. I can honestly say that the book was a million times better than the film. You see so much more depth between the mother and Christiane in the book rather than the film. In the film, when the mother finds out about her heroin addiction; she is never shown or really spoken of again. Yet in the book, the mother tries over and over to help her daughter.

When she was 12 years old, she began smoking hashish with a group of friends who were slightly older at a local youth club. They gradually began using stronger drugs such as LSD and various forms of pills and she ended up using heroin. By the time she was 14, she was heroin-dependent and a prostitute, mainly at West Berlin's then-largest railway station Bahnhof Zoo. During this period, she became part of a group of teenage drug-users and sex workers of both sexes. Atze’s death completely obliterated an impossible dream that we all shared: the dream of the cool junkie, who’s able to handle his heroin. Instead, everyone in Atze’s old crowd began to fear and mistrust each other. Before, when there weren’t enough needles to go around and we were shooting up, everybody wanted to be first. Now all of a sudden, everybody wanted to be second. Nobody talked about how scared they were, but everyone was worried that the stuff would be too pure, too strong, or that it would be cut with strychnine or some other poison. You could die from an overdose, but you could also die from shit that was too pure or too dirty.
