About this deal

This setting determines how gentle the ramp-up is on your power on start. Starting up too fast can kill your motor’s controller so beware. I am using the lowest setting published in the article I linked above. Here again, why create a situation where you could end up blowing your controller or chewing up your chainrings? The BBSHD is a 1000-watt beast of a motor. It is about 3.5lbs heavier than the BBS02 and delivers a peak power of over 1500 watts. Although weighing in at about 13lbs, this motor is super silent and has a massive torque of 160Nm. There are small cars with the same amount of torque. Batteries should be fully charged from time to time, but charging to 90% for most of the time is meant to be beneficial for battery longevity. Any reduced risk of controller failure is going to be minimal – in my experience it’s more down to the way the bike is ridden (e.g. constant throttle use on steep hills in the wrong gear). Had to fine tune the Adappto to give us more accurate temperature read outs and also tune it to be more efficient so that the motor will run at its coolest. Add a safety layer to ebike charging practices, with residential/commercial grade components rather than the cheap stuff. Ebike Battery Charge Safety: Use A Cutoff Timer A 52v battery will give a higher peak power output (in full power mode). If the motor isn’t used on its performance limit then it should run slightly cooler, as less current will be required to achieve the same power level (when compared with a 48v). This is very small though – example: 48v x 20A = 960w / 52v x 18.5A = 962w.Karl blew out his nylon gear which may very well be the weak point in the bbshd, and he did so riding at top speed until his drive got hot and seemed to have melted the gear. However, it can be programmed to be street and bike trail legal if you want to use it everywhere because you like this motor’s ruggedness and reliability. If you have a newer BBS02B you are probably fine, if you have an older controller it might not be a good idea to flash this firmware. Revision

The Bafang BBSHD 1000w produces considerably more torque than its smaller siblings, the controller will handle up to 30A of continuous current all day, and the motor internals are much more robust. BUT it also leaves a hair of rotation which you can use to your advantage when shifting gears: Stop pedaling and in that instant execute your shift. The shadow of remaining power and rotation will be enough to gently complete the shift (SRAM gears will shift in about 1/4 rotation) and you can start pedaling again almost instantly. I call this a ‘stutter step’ in my cadence and I personally prefer it to using a Gear Sensor which automates the process. Tomato-tomahto. Depends on how you learned to use the drive as to which you like better. Current Decay You can lower the risk of controller failure by using a 48V battery instead of a 52V battery. The controllers tend to fail more often with 52V batteries. So in my opinion you should only go for the 52V battery if you absolutely want to get the most amount of power out of your BBSHD. Using a 48V battery will still give you a crazy amount of power, so the decrease in reliability does not way up to the increase in performance in my opinion.The throttle of the Bafang BBSHD isn’t the most precise throttle, but it does the job. When using the throttle only, it really feels like riding an electric motorcycle, which is an amazing feeling! If you are planning to ride your bike like this, it is highly recommended to wear a helmet and preferably also some protective gear. I just can’t stress enough how powerful the BBSHD is, therefore you should also protect yourself properly from this kind of power. and relaxing. I'm looking forward to my next ride already, and know I'm going to use it so much more. My recommendation would be: if you want the cheapest option -> C965, if you want the nicest looking display -> P850C, DPC18, or 860C, if you want the smallest, most discrete display -> SW102. How big should my chainring be?

Although these cells are in wide use, and professionally manufactured in a purpose built factory; because of the power of the battery, we strongly recommend that precautions are taken. They both have a handlebar mounted switch to turn the headlight on and off. The CYC headlights have two separate lights that each mount directly on the handlebars. The EBC Headlight includes low-beam with horizon cutoff, high-beam, and running lights and mounts on the front stem bolts freeing up handlebar space and not interfering with the ebike display. Both lights are brighter than most car headlights. We are able to adjust the controller software. We ship the kits with the throttle configured for full power in all assist levels. There are also many user adjustable settings available in the display. The BBSHD is a more powerful version of the BBS02, it has a larger motor structure, which can deliver higher power levels than the smaller BBS02 and a larger 12 fet controller. This is all you need if you are upgrading your old BBS01 or BBS02, or swapping out a different sized BBSHD bare motor In general, I think this is one of the top 3 electric bikes I have ever ridden, and I have ridden some pretty spectacular ebikes.

This firmware is intended to replace the original Bafang firmware on the BBSHD/BBS02 motor controller. Almost all functionality of original firmware has been implemented and additional features have been added. Out of the thirty kits I have installed, three controller failures and one hall sensor failure occurred. Generally speaking, this motor is reliable and seems to endure much abuse. Most installations I have carried out have used 52v batteries, which, when fully charged, are around 58.8v; this is very close to the motor controller’s maximum operating voltage of 60v. My only controller failures have been on bikes with a 52v battery fitted. I have never had any issues with the motors that used 48v batteries. If I am really lazy, I leave it in 16T rear cog (its flat where I live), use PAS 2 to get to 10 mph (helps the motor ) then use throttle only to 30+mph. This saves the motor, saves the drive train and im lazy. If I want to go miles, I use all my gears and PAS 2 only and the throttle up a hill in a big rear gear with it spinning freely.
