About this deal

I've seen somewhere before that someone was dosing the salts separately but within the same day so the tank was getting everything every day rather than alternating macro/micro nutrients on different days. Is this a thing and if so is it better? Does it make any difference? Would you recommend it? Add Aquarium volume, directly into the aquarium is set to default. Then fill in the number of grams of the salts you have. According to Rotala Butterfly, it agrees with what several of you have said, that I should indeed be dosing 2ml or even 3ml a day of TNC Complete. I think it suggests 2.5ml a day.

Water changes are 50% twice a week at the moment. I use 10 litres of rainwater plus 2 litres of tap, giving KH and GH both 4°, which I then supplement with Epsom salts to boost GH to about 7° (to assist shrimp moulting). TDS before a water change is usually about 170, and about 145 after. pH is about 6.5. I've seen the ' All In One Solution' for dosing all the salts in one solution - if this works and you can just dose everything in one solution without issue then why isn't everyone doing this? Is there a downside or reason not to do this? Would you recommend it? So I've just installed a Twinstar 1200s 3 days ago. And its nice having the ability to ramp up and ramp down the intensity of it. It is not a kit I've used, but if it goes red? It probably uses this method In which case one of the bottles will be an acetate buffer (sodium or ammonium acetate?) and the other hydroxylamine.

per 10 litres of tank water 3x per week will give a dose similar to the Estimative Index levels – Be sure to change 50% of your water once per week to remove organic waste from the plants. Is it possible that my plants are deficient in PO₄³⁻ or K? When I do water changes, I use about 10 litres of rainwater with 2 litres of tapwater to get the softness I want, so I’m not getting much contribution from the tap.

The price match offer is only valid for identical, same size/amount and available macroalgae species. In that scenario, a 500ml bottle of APT would have lasted 18 months, whereas the 500ml bottle of TNC would have been 6 months (at a 3ml/day dose). Where both get expensive is when using it for large tanks, which is why I use dry salts and mix my own for my 350L. If it were me, I would work out how many doses (I do it in days) you'll get from both fertilisers and see what's more value for money that way.

Hey all! Looking for advice on how I can best change my dosing over from TNC Complete to DIY Salts for my low light/low tech tank. I know EI was designed with high light/high tech tanks in mind so I want to figure out what I would need to dose to roughly equal what I am dosing now with TNC Complete and maybe what I can safely increase/decrease from there. If you test the potassium and iron coming out of the tap and in your tank at different points in the day, it should give you a rough idea of how much fertiliser you need to add. TNC Complete is an aquatic plant food specially formulated for use in all planted aquariums. For aquariums where the fish load is not meeting the requirements to supply the necessary Nitrate and Phosphate TNC Complete is ideal for making up this shortfall. I use these as a guideline as it is lower nitrogen than full EI and that means I can clean my glass less often. Remember if you start by just dosing a little bit, you'll probably reach the ideal levels or higher for most of the elements. The other tank is more like a paludarium setup with a load of emersed growing plants, this is the only one that gets a fert dose after each water change. This said when using this fertiliser we recommend for safety reasons tomonitor the Copper level in theaquarium water and to usewhen necessary Copper removing supplements. Instruction Guidelines So my current dosage is 1ml per day, every day. This is roughly in accordance with the instructions for TNC Complete, but is less than people have recommended here. The “normal” dose would be 1ml per 10 litres (i.e. 2ml for my tank) once a week, but the instructions say that you can dose this three times a week (i.e. 6ml per week for my tank) to approximate EI. What I do is dose 1ml every day, because I figure that a smaller, more frequent dose is better - and it’s easier to remember! So I’m dosing 7ml a week, which is slightly more than the instructions say.
