Alan Carr's Adventures With Agatha Christie - Channel 4 commissions new three-part series from Boom for More 4". Self depreciating and funny, informative without betraying any confidences or creating any spats, it turned out to be an enjoyable, light hearted listen. Playing Alan’s neighbours are Rourke Mooney and Gabby Best as Charlie and Angela, along with Harry Peacock as Nigel. Confirmed today also joining the cast are Shaun Dooley and Nancy Sullivan playing Alan’s parents Graham and Christine along with Taylor Fay as his younger brother Gary. I must admit, however, he didn't go into heavy detail about what happens behind the scenes; I've read comedy autobiographies before which have totally over-cranked this.He triumphed in a couple of new act competitions, became established on the comedy scene in the north-west of England, and a couple of Edinburghs later, became the unlikely face of bawdy, late-night Channel 4. And he hasn't half had some funny moments in his life, some strage situations, so it isn't hard to see why he got into the comedy game. Some people get famous because they want their own plane, some want their own chatshow, some people do it so they can talk to women like shit. Carr has been featured in three Edinburgh shows and in 2007 he toured throughout the UK, which was followed by a DVD entitled Tooth Fairy Live.

Really enjoyed this series of anecdotes / stories from the life of Alan Carr - especially as I listened via audio and Alan actually spoke to me! From beginning to end I found myself laughing, Alan has a way with words that makes you feel like you are having a chat with a friend. Hopefully you will find it witty, fun, heartwarming, but more importantly honest, and that it will keep you entertained every time you pick it up.Shahid Malik, MP for Matthews' constituency of Dewsbury, described Carr's comments about Matthews as "sick and insensitive". It would appear that the circle of profesional standups is quite small judjing by the names that re-appear regularly throughout the likes of this book and Peter Kay's and Michael McIntyre's. Yes, you are going to find guts, a fair bit of cheek, maybe even a little bit of gristle, but hopefully, you'll find a whole lot of heart.

It looked funny watching it from my sofa but Alan said that running through the audience was quite scary.I ask if his oft-repeated story, that he used to fantasise about greeting school bullies in a chauffeur-driven car wearing a fur coat, is true. In a world of celebrity which this focuses on there is nothing truly memorable and the only surprising thing to me was Alan Carr once lived it Stretford and I kept asking was this anywhere near where my dad was brought up? I loved how care free Alan Carr was, he named and shamed some celebrities which takes some "balls" and the fact the book embodies his campiness. He ‘studied’ drama at university, which mostly involved idling away his time with typical student apathy, went travelling for a bit, and engaged in a series of brain-numbingly tedious jobs, from packing boxes to cleaning office toilets. Recently, he joked he’d won custody of Adele in the divorce, but today he is reluctant to talk about her.
