A few years after Frito-Lay did its first Sklanders promotion, the popular chip brand did it again with the Fire Bone Hot Dog giveaway. This time there were three color variants available of the same character. For the most part the Fire Bone Hot Dog figures looked the same and came in a translucent clear color, but the flames on the dog’s bone were different. A Green Flame, Purple Flame, and Red Flame variant was available.

The eyeball popped himself into the space where the giant's head should have been, and Eye-Brawl was born. The scrapped team spell for Undead characters is the Dirge of Undead, a haunting song in which the active character can drain the enemy's life force for each Undead character in the team, acting as a cheaper and inverted Slice of Life.

The Scroll also said that they possessed powers of light and darkness within their flesh, which might refer to their light-up feature. All of the Skylanders originally spoke their own gibberish languages in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, but as the project went on, Toys for Bob decided to give fourteen of them actual English lines. The original Skylanders were the Giants, who united their powers to defeat the Arkeyan King ten thousand years ago. The Giants banded together and fought for the freedom of Skylands against the Arkeyans, who ruled over Skylands thousands of years ago with an iron fist. In a final battle against the Arkeyans, the Giants were banished to Earth by the Iron Fist of Arkus, where they’ve been buried underground until recent days. As the years passed, the Giants were considered as a myth. Undead creatures are collectively referred to as "ghouls" in most media, though the namesake species exists as seen with Ghost Roaster and Chopscotch.

Interestingly, despite the game is suppose to be focused on the Giants, they don't have any unique animations on their stats, neither the new core Skylanders introduced in the game.Undead-based Skylanders also stand on a pedestal that resembles a white skull when they're in their toy form. The white skull on the pedestal is known to glow in the dark on most figures. SuperChargers, on the other hand, stand on a pedestal of bones that do not glow in the dark. Undead Imaginators can perform Soul Stealer on training dummies and create health orbs to replenish their health meters. Though Skylanders are not mentioned to retire in the main series, in Skylanders Academy, many have retired and left their weapons at the Relics Room to make way for a younger generation.
