I read a criticism of the novel online that mentioned the fact that some of the characters tend to speak in monologues, but I felt that this was realistic enough given the criminal investigation. The book is full of intriguing, bizarre and astonishing facts about bats, from biology, pop culture, mythology, literature and art. There’s some lovely tips at the end too for making a bat-friendly garden, making seed balls and supporting bat charities. With special thanks to the person who placed it in the hotel used book library that enabled me to read it while on holiday last week.
