About this deal

I started spraying myself with HP at some point. Don't know why I did that if I hated it so much. The little vial lasted me so long, and eventually ran out. Didn't know until shopping at the mall once and told everyone I need to go to bathroom while in fact I ran to Dior counter to spray HP on myself. Just felt that I need that rush of sweetness down my nose so I can keep going! It's like you have a long flight and anxiously waiting for that first cigarette once you get off the airplane. I was so disappointed at myself when I finally bought a bottle. Think I have been Hypnotic Poisoned? The lady at our perfume counter suggested I tried the EDP. Which I instantly liked, but then it went through a real EDT moment and I smelt the same overwhelming notes again... This one has been completely reorganized. It’s cherry,vanilla,sugar,floral,almond and a transparent licorice. This is by far the sweetest yet most sheer/edt reminiscent of the three. This smells soooooo sweet and thats the main characteristic of this. It last 12-16 hours but is not hefty. Of all of them though this one smells EXACTLY like the bottle looks. Like dark red glass covered in sugar and licorice. Not a blind buy. No way. Especially because I find it very mature and a little bit vintage. I am 31, and for now, I have never smelled any girl in the 20s wearing it, and around where I live, thank God tho, coz I do not like to smell like everyone, what a nightmare.

I think the EDT and and EDP would be lovely layered on each other. They are only slightly overlapping in the notes. Really quite different. Hypnotic Poison EDT is one of my absolute favourite fragrances. The EDP is a dark and decadent treat, but has little in common with the EDT. I would recommend seeking a sample or decant to try before investing in a full bottle. Especially as the prices can be silly given it is discontinued. But of course I'm very bias and maybe different circumstances surrounding my introduction to this fragrance would have a very different reaction. I think it is one of the fragrances that got it just right. For me. Excellent projection and diffusion, hold and longevity. My wife loves it anyway and I always try to get her to save it for special occasions just because it has such a, ... well... 'Hypnotic' effect on me(I also get a similar effect from PRADA Amber, but Amber requires patience before it reveals that soft, tangy, vanillin 'heat' that is much more carnal and brutally passionate than Hypnotic Poison). I don't think the current version of this is the HP I first smelled years ago. It was very distinctly a Poison flanker as were all of the flankers, but now it's more just a standalone perfume, albeit a nice one. It's nowhere near as strong now either.I received my little poison friend, unwrapped it like the most precious thing on earth, sprayed on my wrists, took a sniff and immediately felt avenged for all my previous blind buy fails. "You've got a friend in me" kind of comfort from it reaching out to my heart to fill me with joy. Not star crossed lovers anymore but real twin flames. I think it's not a safe blind buy. Try it out before you commit to an expensive full bottle. Also, I don't think it's a safe gift unless you're sure of the recipient's taste. One week after smelling Hypnotic Poison for the first time, I bought the 50 ml bottle. The bottle is beautiful, by the way – since it resembles a red apple, it had me expecting something fruitier. Clearly, I was wrong – there is nothing fruity about this scent – but also pleasantly surprised!

In terms of longevity, I find that it sits at about moderate sillage for me, with a good amount of longevity. But as I suggested, I wouldn't recommend spraying this and running out the door. This perfume needs at least five minutes to settle down before you leave the house. The initial spritz is a bit too aggressive for that. second release) Licorice,vanilla,cherry almond with almost as much spice as the original. It’s drier that the first. It’s still super longer lasting. Just not as gothic. The newer version is good too a little sweeter and no burn smell just subdued but still has the original dna and is less lasting but I think this was reformulated for a more modern touch it doesn’t have the same dry down unfortunately fades away and you will be left with no trace of it the next morning, maybe on clothes it will last. This is not a common vanilla and tonka scent. The licorice and almond give this its uniqueness, although I have that feeling that I have smelled this somewhere else in the past.Edit, just realised this says launched in 2014 but I smelled it way before then, I'm sure of it, so I might be mistaking this for another earlier version of HP. Either way, it sounds pretty much like the one I'm on about Orange, toasted almond and liquorice make up the head notes of this perfume. Next heart notes of orange blossom and jasmine move in. At last a deluge of vanilla and tonka bean arises to conclude the olfactory experience. (Tonka beans come from Central and South America. The chemical compound coumarin, gives them a deep vanilla-like scent.) This overall sweetness is absolutely scrumptious. Dior-Fragrances Price UK That brings me to the bit that I hated and also ended up liking about the EDP. On the first blast, it is heavy on the aniseed. Oh, so, so much bitter aniseed. And this is initially what put me off because I absolutely detest liquorice, and the medicinal, scratchy smell the EDP gave off at first almost stopped me completely from wanting to have any more to do with this perfume. But it does mellow out on the skin. It allows the vanilla to bloom. And the way I would describe this vanilla would be closer to the smell of a vanilla bean pod itself; the rich smell, without any real sweetness.
