After facing the consequences of his actions for the next five years, Shōya has become a very isolated and self-loathing person in his late teens. The movie ending is quite similar to the manga as well, so the lack of source material ultimately points to the fact that A Silent Story 2 may not happen.It’s unclear how close their bond is, especially after Shōya reaches his last year of high school, with his sister’s face and name never being revealed. The exploration of Shoya’s personality and his yearning for redemption, self-respect, and forgiveness leads the plot. Due to his height, Shōya’s physique appears slightly skinny, giving him a bit of a lanky appearance.

Even if the success of 'Your Name' is to suggest one piece of anime was huge, this deserves just as much attention as it does acclaim, I have no regrets watching this film and I encourage people of all demographics to seek out and see for themselves.Kindergarten kids have no established morals and really will bully kids in overt ways for being different.

Although he still struggles to forgive himself, Shōya has learned to better trust himself and the people around him, slowly but surely opening himself back up to the world. Shōya faces many challenges: the rejection of Shōko's mother or the avoidance of former classmates, who don't want to confront their past behaviour when he and Shōko work through their past. At its core, this film is about a new student that comes into a school, who just so happens to be hearing impaired. The more obvious themes covered by the film are school bullying and the integration of disabled people in society. Let’s be honest most of you people reading this might have either watched Koe no Katachi as your first anime movie or loved it.The character's are relatable as they are touching, carrying the film through it's compelling plot especially with the main character himself and the deaf girl who he's trying to understand. After Shōko and Yuzuru's grandmother passes away, Shōya takes them to the countryside to cheer them up, where he realizes that Shōko blames herself for everything that has happened to him. The two become good friends as Yuzuru spends more time around Shōya, her growing to greatly trust and appreciate him for the positive impact he’s making in Shōko’s life, even being surprisingly supportive of him dating Shōko. From what is known, she was actually the one who told him that life was a war against boredom, a philosophy he would take to heart at the time. It follows the story of a former bully turned social outcast, who decides to reconnect and befriend the deaf girl he had bullied years prior.
