About this deal

When attempting to claim a Tunnel route, a player first lays down the number of cards required by the length of the route. Then the three top cards from the Train draw pile are turned face-up.

Here's the original Europe map on top of the revised Anniversary Edition board. As you can see, it's pretty sizeable! The player(s) with the longest continuous path of train cars on the map gains 10 points for having the longest route. Ferries are special Gray routes linking two adjacent cities across a body of water. They are easily identified by the Locomotive icon(s) featured on at least one of the spaces making the route.

A route is a set of continuous colored spaces (in some instances, gray spaces) between two adjacent cities on the map. To claim a route, a player must play a set of Train cards whose color and quantity match the color and number of spaces of the chosen route.

Remove these cards from your hand and place them in a separate face up discard pile near the game board. When it comes to upgrades, the board itself has had one of the most stand out transformations. In previous editions, the map board has always served its purpose, but now it steals the show. In this sparkly anniversary edition, the board features fantastic new detail such as mountain ranges, landmarks, settlements, boats, and even different weather. The whole board (and there’s a lot of it now) is just gorgeous. Adding to the beautiful map are the routes. These have been given the same treatment as the cards and now really pop, adding a splash of vibrant colour across the continent. This new design is sensational and there is just so much for you to look at that playing is even more enjoyable than before. A player may claim any open route on the board. He is never required to connect to any of his previously played routes. If they draw 2 additional red Train Cards, they will need to discard 2 additional red Train Cards from their hand. Players may also use wilds from their hand to complete this step.
