Basic training for the next gen Mafia families. I personally loved the three POVs, between Leo, Anna, and Leo's cousin/enemy Dean. It provided such a different dimension to this book, and set up Dean for his (dare I say) Draco Malfoy-style redemption arc (in book 3). Dean provided so much tension and angst - I think that if we hadn't gotten his POV the story wouldn't have been as interesting or dynamic. I loved him (and wondered why he wasn't the hero) - then I hated him, even when I kind of pitied him. It made me so excited for his book. Another thing that kinda bothered me is that he didn’t open up to her or told her his story. Like yes we as a readers knew his story, but it felt strange that he never talked to her about it. Idk it just sth that kinda bothered me.

Byron is the type to go for vengeance. He’s fallen for Lex, but how long can that last? Apparently not that long, because once Lex has done her damage and his career is ruined, and she’s broken his heart, she’s made an apparent enemy for life. The detective isn’t going to let her get away from him that easily, especially considering what she’s done. Leo and Anna are great when together, not so much when they're apart, which is a lot of the book. Dean is a real piece of work throughout the book. He does some nasty things and feels no remorse over them. No one will love her better than I can. No one will cherish and protect her as I will. The Heir, Chapter 36, 88.1% The Heir is my first read from Sophie Lark, and I can tell I've been missing out! Her writing is AMAZING! It has an almost cinematic quality to it that drew me in immediately. The way every detail is described in such a rich and effortless manner made me feel like I was experiencing everything as if I was actually there! paralleled perfectly with the first emotion he felt after years of unfeeling was the guilt that plagued him when seeing Nessa cry.I was excited about the friends to lovers element of our main characters and seeing how these students would learn how to fit their ‘mafia life’ into the real world. While Holly and Byron say that they are going to just remain friends, it appears that actions speak louder than words here. The two are constantly hooking up and taking the clothes off the other one. It’s clear that they have incredible chemistry together and they probably would be a fantastic couple if things got serious. When I'm talking to someone in English, I don't randomly switch to Serbian or Russian unless if the person I'm speaking to also speaks those and I forgot a word in English but remembered it in one of those. But I actually ended up really enjoying the book. The constant rivalry between Leo and Dean was actually really fun to read even though they could get pretty annoying sometimes. But, what happens when they both realize the feelings they have for each other go beyond that of a cousin. When they need to fight the feelings and jealousy of seeing each other try to act normal.

The inspiration of Harry Potter is very clear from the start. I got a feeling like Divergent too, when I thought of combat classes and the capture the flag task. And what was up with Miko’s erectile dysfunction problem? He’s had a hard time getting it up and cumming before meeting Nessa, but with her around, he gets hard immediately and can come in under a minute. Damn, Nessa must have some magical virgin p*ssy. ✌️
