Biore UV Aqua Rich Light Up Essence SPF 50+ PA++++ isn’t as great as the original and much beloved Biore UV Aqua Rich Light Up Essence SPF 50+ PA++++. But I felt a little more protected using this if you can believe that and although, it had a white cast and took a bit longer to absorb I thought it wore very comfortably and looked great under makeup. I would buy it again! Asides from the overwhelming scent of alcohol which dissipates after a few minutes, I love the cooling sensation after application. I mean there’s a reason why it is described as a ‘Watery Essence’. It is the perfect Summer sunscreen. Although you can use both products on your face and your body, the biggest difference between these two products is that the Biore Aqua Rich UV Watery Essence is better to use on your face as a foundation primer rather than the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel, which may be better to use on your body. The Biore UV Aqua Rich watery Gel may be used on your face for foundation primer, but the chances that the sunscreen gel would become flakey is higher since the gel version is denser than the watery essence version.This is formulated for those that require protection from the sun but won’t be in the sun for longer periods of time. It’s a sunscreen you want to wear if you’re dashing around outside a bit but aren’t going to be exposed to the sun for long periods of time. It’s a great daily SPF. I tan easily and this won’t prevent me from tanning but it will help to protect my skin when I wear it. As always with Japanese sunscreens it does contain alcohol however, after testing on my drier skin I can say that I didn’t experience dryness from it. It does contain some very nice hydrating ingredients like royal jelly extract which may off set the alcohol. For my everyday makeup look, I usually apply concealer or foundation on top of my sunscreen. When I used the Biore Sunscreen in the same method, my makeup did not budge at all, which means that it’s very effective to use as a makeup primer. I thought it was very comfortable to wear and super breathable. It also removed very easily at the end of the day. It’s not something I’d rely on if I were out and about for longer periods of time in the sun but it’s ideal for heading into the office, running around a few stores, etc….! It’s lightweight, it wears well under makeup without pilling or looking too dewy or greasy, and it feels very smooth. The white cast is a bit of a pain the deal with and the fact it takes a little time for it to absorb but you can apply it before anything else and go dry your hair or get dressed and by the time you’re done you’ll be ready to apply your makeup!

This formula also contains silicones, which may cause breakouts in some people (though my skin doesn’t seem to react negatively to silicones). You already know it, but I give this product a 100 out of 10! There may be so many sunscreens in Japan that are good, but considering the price, amount of product, usability and quality of this product, this sunscreen is hands down the best! This product is something that all people should use in their skincare routine, or use at least once in their lifetime. If you don’t normally wear makeup, you might want to opt for a tinted sunscreen like Australian Gold instead, which helps blur imperfections, delivers a matte finish to reduce shine at the end of the day (and is also rated PA++++).However, these actives has good field data from years of European consumers, I think it should be a good formula based on the ingredient list. clear, oil-soluble, “cosmetically-elegant” liquid, not photostable (loses 10% of its SPF protection ability within 35 mins), needs other filters to stabilize (like Tinosorb S) Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence, a watery essence with a transparent feel that blends effortlessly with the skin.
