The text by Peter Bently is very funny too; what’s more it is in rhyme, making this great book even greater for the younger ones. Growing up on a farm in the Cotswolds, he went on to study a degree in Illustration at Kingston University, London.

This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally). An exciting new collaboration between the Roald Dahl Funny Prize-winning author Peter Bently and the incredibly talented illustrator John Bond! They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books. John has recently joined forces with award winning author, Peter Bently, to work on a series of exciting new picture books.

This is an extremely well-crafted and fun story time book that will have children asking for repeat reads again and again, and the vocabulary and pictures are sophisticated enough to amuse adults reading and help develop children’s language development too. Their first title 'Dogs in Disguise' (published Sep 2021) is a hilarious, rhyming story about the secret lives of our four-legged friends. We also share information about your use of our site with our social media, advertising and analytics partners.

It is probably a surprise that dogs wear disguises, but in fact, fashionable red setters are roaming our streets in their trendy outfits.

Some have full rhyme like ‘big’ and ‘wig’, but on other occasions the rhymes are homophones for example, so that Dogs in Disguise could be a brilliant tool for teaching developing writing. In this very funny and addictive book, Peter Bently and John Bond have let us readers peek beyond these pooches’ disguises to reveal just what they get up to. The Highway Rat, gallops along the highway stealing food from other animals – clover from a rabbit, nuts from a squirrel and even his own horse’s hay, until he encounters a cunning duck! It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything. Dressing up in clothing they find at home, these adventurous pooches blend into the crowd at all the places dogs aren?

I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic! Yourself and Bob are much cherished in our booky world and I personally really appreciate everything that you do. Now, I’m at least 55 years older than the intended audience for Dogs in Disguise and a cat lover but I adored this book.Peter studied languages at Oxford University, England, and lives in Devon with his wife Lucy and their two children. You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods.
