About this deal

The Cacodemon is used as the Icon for the Xbox 360 Arcade version of Doom, specifically in the game library and on the Achievement screen. The sequel, Doom II, simply uses the title rather than a monster to represent the icon. Because of their flight ability and versatility, it is not uncommon to see cacodemons flying out of unexpected places once alerted.

Hardcoded exception to infighting negates damage (excepting indirect damage caused by exploding barrels). The Cacodemon appears in both Doom RPG and Doom II RPG as a class of monster. There are three variations, identified by color:The earliest known version of Doom to include cacodemon graphics is the 0.5 alpha, released on May 22, 1993, and the earliest known appearance of the monster as an in-game adversary is in the press release version of Doom, released on October 4, 1993. It portrays the Cacodemon “floating” over snowy ruins, an illusion created by being mounted on a clear post. As you can see in the images above, the statue is finely detailed in the ways it’s been sculpted and painted. A short series of plush cacos known as "cacopets" were created by Laura Herrmann (BahdKo). One such was given to Dylan McIntosh (Toke) as a gift in August of 2001. Cacopet is smaller than Hissy, a brighter shade of red, and is more round, but is otherwise quite similar in appearance. Toke's cacopet is now cared for by his longtime friend Ganja. Standing at an adorable 3 inches tall, the Mini Cacodemon Collectible joins the rest of the gang. They’re all in the same scale and would look amazing on your desk or shelf.

Cacodemon" or "cacodæmon" comes from Ancient Greek and means "evil spirit"; it had entered Old English by the 12th century. In ancient Greek, "demon" or "dæmon" simply meant "spirit" and was neutral; the latter spelling (usually with the ligature separated into "ae") still has neutral uses to this day.The earliest known version of Doom to include Cacodemon graphics is the 0.5 alpha, released on May 22, 1993, and the earliest known appearance of the monster as an in-game adversary is in the press release version of Doom, released on October 4, 1993. With its standout design, it has attracted some unlikely but welcome adoration. In a world of hideous hellspawn, the Cacodemon is the closest thing a creature can get to being cute. And it just got cuter. The "Astral Dreadnought" creature which the Cacodemon sprite was cropped from, on the cover of the Manual of the Planes. The cacodemon is used as the Icon for the Xbox 360 Arcade version of Doom, specifically in the game library and on the Achievement screen. The sequel, Doom II, simply uses the title rather than a monster to represent the icon. It is also the icon for The Ultimate Doom in the Steam game library and as the executable icon.
