About this deal

The original LC40 is my EDC purely because it’s smaller, and so being smaller doesn’t so much make my EDC bag as large.

Anker states 6hr charge time, mine was almost fully charged out of the box and took just over an hour to top it up to full. The combining with a non-removable battery shortens the torch as you have less metal in total, reducing from two caps with sets of threads to stack over each other to one cap and presumable a smaller thread which is sealed (somehow - glue?I recommend pairing whichever one you get with the Powerport Solar so you can shine at night and recharge during the day. Every review you read should disclose any potential biases that might reasonably influence the results. I have used the LC-40 to read a few times, and the inability to more evenly distribute the light is bothersome.

However, the tests do allow readers to make reasonable comparisons between the lights I have previously reviewed. After the second one, which had a sticky On/Off/Mode switch, that tended to like the Strobe and SOS mode more than anything else, it seems that Anker modified the switch, making it more of a distinct two stage one, that it's now easier to select the mode you want, before the full press to enable it, Kudos to Anker! The Anker LC90 features multiple flashlight modes, including Eco, High, Low, Medium, SOS mode, and Strobe mode, offering versatility in different situations. Although I have purchased a few products from Anker in the past, I have not had any conversations with any representative of that company about any topic. I have had two of these for over a year and it’s impossible to find faults for a 30 buck flashlight. After reviewing this photo I noticed a dark patch in the centre of the picture, I’ll talk more about that later. An adaptable combination of super-bright light with handy zoom and a full range of light modes in a durable, compact body.

That button on the new LC90 looks like the one on the new LC40 we have and it works just fine for the weeks we used it daily. It is well constructed, easy to use, and the service from Anker is absolutely 100% helpful (I needed a replacement battery). Since we’re right in the middle, I want to do a test to see who actually read these reviews, and who just looks at the pictures. From 100% output to less than 9% output – the generally accepted measurement in the industry – the LC90 showed a runtime of 4 hours 17 minutes. The light beam can reach a maximum distance of 200 meters, ensuring visibility in dark environments. Disclosure: We are a professional review site that receives compensation from the companies whose products we review.

Now I'll take my chances with the LC130, hoping it'll be the best of both worlds with a wide, full flooded beam and decent centre brightness. This method of switching settings takes a few minutes to get used to, but now that I have it down it’s fairly easy. If you were making the LC90 longer via two 18650 you can see in an effort to shorten they took the decision to use the same method as the LC40 of merging caps and sealing. To insert the battery you need to unscrew the end button cap which reveals the battery cover cap which is also where you plug in the micro USB to charge the battery. If I hold the Anker LC90 to the 50% standard I’ve proposed, the flashlight would have a runtime of less than 2 minutes. The better your problem and question is described, the easier it is for other Anker owners to provide you with a good answer. The on/off switch ensures convenient operation, and the presence of buttons allows for ease of control. This graph shows the surface temperature of the Anker LC90 flashlight over time when running at the high output level.
