And here’s something interesting: The Disney Movie Club has just revealed new “Blu-ray + DVD + Digital” editions of the classic animated Peter Pan (1953) and The Sword and the Stone (1963). The former is branded as a 70th Anniversary Edition while the latter is a 60th Anniversary Edition. The covers for each are based upon the original theatrical poster artwork. And Peter Pan will apparently have a disc-based special feature that’s exclusive to the DMC release only, which is entitled In Walt’s Words: Peter Pan. Street date is apparently 6/13. That’s somewhat inaccurate, it wasn’t “temp.” Also we covered that topic on TrekMovie a couple of days ago. We’re still waiting for Paramount to make an official statement about it. Star Trek: Picard Season 3 Blu-ray and DVD Release Date

FX are great, very useful and can contribute to the overall enjoyment of a movie or episode but, for me they are not an important factor. I am 64 and grew up watching TOS with all it’s comparatively shoddy props & effects and dodgy analog TV reception. They didn’t matter. The props etc exist to prompt imaginative immersion inside my skull where I was happily viewing the show in a 3d view at resolutions thousands of times greater than the best HDR or 16k display.

As Data surrenders his memories to Lore in their cyber realm, he hands Lore his painting of a raven (from TNG “Birthright”) The final season of Star Trek: Picard will be headed to home media this fall, as the last year of Admiral Picard’s adventure has been slated for a September release.

As the crew closes down Guinan’s bar, Data is given the final toast of the evening (which as seen in the final edit) is the joke he didn’t get from TNG “The Naked Now,” he’s cut off by the others, but in this extended version, Worf finishes the joke. Then, the actual last toast of the night goes to Picard as seen in the final edit. To be honest the only thing i truly loved in this season was seeing the Enterprise D again and having her get a better ending then the one in Generations. Unlike in previous seasons, quite a few of the deleted scenes included on this release are extremely relevant and would have added to an already strong season — forcing you to wonder in some cases why they weren’t included in the final episode edits. Worf (Michael Dorn) describes his recent past to Riker (Jonathan Frakes). Nope, but it was pretty great along the way and felt like the kind of Trek I wanted to watch (and rewatch) each week. I would have liked to have had the connections between Vadic’s rogue Changelings and the Borg Queen’s goals more obvious. Amanda Plummer was electric on screen, but Vadic herself never quite gelled; it always felt like there was something more to the bird imagery theme for her and her crew, but it was never really clear. Also, like many people, I found the show’s lighting to be too dark: There’s so much detail in every set, but it’s hard to see. It really seemed like the Titan should have been lit at least a bit brighter. Out of the 3 seasons i love S1 the most (It has a more thought out/better written story-line imo) with S3 as my 2nd favorite and S2 in 3rd place. I bought this masterpiece on bluray steel book. I’m happy this wonderful season is now part of my collection. Deanna jumps into the conn seat, and Geordi says that Deanna has flown the Enterprise “exactly twice, and you crashed it both times.” Deanna retorts “Yeah well, third time’s the charm.”

STAR TREK: PICARD Season 3 Lands on Blu-ray in September

Both would have been helpful additions, as would the extra dialog showcased between Picard and Crusher as they decide that yes, they have changed enough to execute Vadic. All three brief scenes were illuminating moments that would have added more to the final product with their inclusion than they did being cut out. It’s not surprising that the most successful Picard season also has the greatest home media release of the series, and for anyone who has even a passing interest in what went into bringing this miracle of a year to life, Star Trek: Picard – Season 3 is a must-have… especially in these days where content can just vanish off of subscription streaming services.
