The story is written by 11 year old Harper Drew and her everyday life in her family (with all the disasters! Suit Y3 onwards depending on ability, although suggested age is 9-11 probably because that's Harper's age. I also overheard both children talking about one of the characters in a way which demonstrated beautifully that humour really is a great way to teach children how to navigate the tricky issues that come up in the world of school politics.With this in mind she has worked with both primary and secondary schools on confidence and resilience building programmes for young people. Firstly, this wouldn't be my normal choice of book, I usually prefer a standard MG novel but I'm stuck at home and this was delivered so I gave it a go! The first in Kathy Weeks's illustrated humorous trilogy for readers aged 9+ has a lot of fun with Harper's despair at the eccentricity of her family, although the journal format has been done to death in this age bracket. It is a diary format and similar to Tom Gates, Diary of a Wimpy or Dork Diaries although in many ways I think this book is better.
