It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything. There are many reasons I could recommend this title, the illustrations from Claire Powell which bring it to life […] The way that Alasdair Beckett-King appears to so effortlessly be able to make me laugh at the hilarious dialogue and story line. Your selection was perfect for our children and what really made the difference was your ability to engage with each child, discuss their interests and help them to choose a suitable book based on your extensive knowledge of the books you were selling. There are gorgeous, funny black and white illustrations throughout the book which bring the story and characters to life!

When a dead body and an empty display case are discovered, in a room which is locked from the inside, Monsieur Bonbon springs into action: taking notes, collecting clues and investigating suspects. There are several suspects, a few cryptic clues, and a grumpy police investigator who doesn't want them anywhere near the case. There's been a mysterious death at the lighthouse, and what everyone assumed was an accident is setting Bonbon's moustache all a-quiver: something is Highly Suspicious. And it’s also a heart-warming example of a special relationship between a young girl and her Grampa. Families could grab an activity sheet to test out their detective skills, explore their local museum, solve puzzles and have fun!

Montgomery Bonbon: Murder at the Museum is a brilliantly funny murder mystery story by Alasdair Beckett-King. About Anton, i did have my suspicions when he (at the perfect timing) got out of the chair to avoid the dart and when he told Bonbon about the poisonous flower at Herriet's house , like it was too strange yk. Then again, can Bonbon and Banks follow the un-oniony scented clues to arrive at the culprit, ahead of the unwanted arrival of Inspector Sands?

And there is never any doubt that, without the false moustache and raincoat, Montgomery Bonbon looks remarkably like a ten-year-old girl. In exploring this we are led through a satisfying murder mystery, with a cast of colourful characters, and amusing interactions. It is however still difficult to believe such a young child could solve a murder - or that a murder is really understandable to the magnitude it would likely need to be to solve it at the ripe age of 10! To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.The illustrations by Claire Powell are fantastic art pieces, and they tell stories beyond the well-selected well-placed words in the book. This is a particularly delightful series, in that it hams up the humour perfectly, and is filled with oddball characters.

Something to consider, if you're into this kind of narrative - mysteries for young readers - or even if you're just a fan of this artist and you're curious to see how's his writing skill (spoiler: it's quite good! Beckett-King's other creative stuff but judging by the reaction of my grand-children ( the age group for which it is intended ) it is a very successful piece of writing. Then again, Claire Powell’s elongated line drawings hit the style, wit and skill of this storytelling brilliantly! They easily switch between boss and associate roles and there is clearly a lot of love and respect between them, a general inclination to spend time together.If you are under 16, please obtain your parent/guardian’s permission before submitting or ask your parent/guardian to submit on your behalf. This is a really great murder mystery which is fun because you can try to work out who the murderer is as you read the book. Bonnie gets to do it all, and really well - assisting the bumbling police with the case of a missing museum piece and the murder of its guard. Bonnie Montgomery lives with her mum and Grampa Banks, however, unbeknownst to everyone except Grampa, Bonnie's alter ego is the marvellous detective - Montgomery Bonbon!
