Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel, “Dune,” has been hailed by many as a master class on literary world-building, offering a sophisticated tale of war, family, and spice. Dialogue gets fine prioritisation, with that wonderfully guttural "the Voice" penetrating your very being through some exquisite delayed timing, clever aural placement and an unforgiving LFE edge.very unique visual style, as nascent as it was back in the mid-80's, is still fully on display here, lending the film a certain sweep and romance.

They made a conscious effort to avoid anything to do with Star Wars type of designs and succeeded to a huge decree! The original score for the original Dune, was far more accomplished in creating the correct atmosphere, it had a very powerful and memorable theme, it had a sense of wonder and drew you in this fantastical world in a hypnotizing manner. It was not scary, not at all, could not compare to any way to the original film where the world was simply horrific.Dave Bautista doesn't get much chance to be a little less obviously Drax, but Stellan Skarsgård ( Avengers: Age of Ultron) is on full Marlon Brando's Kurtz from Apocalpyse Now form as the imposing Baron. providing Lady Jessica Atreides with a compelling narrative foundation rooted in her authentic voice. Much like Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049, the 3-D presentation offers up a dynamic way to watch but strictly speaking not the best way to experience Dune. The visual effects work throughout is almost perfect, while Hans Zimmer provides one of his best scores to date, and the all-star ensemble cast deliver excellent performances. widescreen format, which, for the most part, works, but in a couple of worm shots in particular feels like it's missing some impact in terms of the scale intended.
