Je me suis dit que la meilleure façon de me faire une idée de ce groupe, était d'acheter une sorte de "pot pourri" de l'ensemble de leur production, incluant le morceau figurant dans HUSH. com The group who single-handedly created the woozy, sexual, cinematic, and meditative dance genre known as trip-hop with their 1991 masterpiece Blue Lines later went on to craft gorgeous soundtrack music and generally emerge as one of the most forward-thinking, fastidious, and s-l-o-w production teams in pop music.

First (on a more philosophical side), I must say that my favourite band is The Prodigy, and with (or without? The cd of b-sides is fantastic cos contain rare materials previously unreleased like the songs silent spring, black melt and the beautiful joy luck club.With my present musical knowledge and tastes, which are certainly greater than the ones of yesterday but lower than the ones of tomorrow, I can honestly say this is the best 'Best Of' compilation I own and have heard so far. Massive Attack's music brings back memories: not that crazy weekend you piled into a van and drove down to New Orleans for New Year's Eve, but those quiet and isolated instants, images that stuck in your mind for no reason, moments when your life started to feel like a movie. In fact the DVD is actually the Eleven Promos DVD which came out in 2001 and only goes up to the Mezzanine era of videos stopping with Inertia Creeps. If a kick-ass collection like this is what it takes for this heady group to keep the record execs happy while they slowly hone a new album, so be it. Massive Attack are an English trip hop collective formed in 1988 in Bristol by Robert "3D" Del Naja, Adrian "Tricky" Thaws, Andrew "Mushroom" Vowles and Grant "Daddy G" Marshall.

Notes: This Betacam tape was used by European TV stations to broadcast advertisements with during the months of March and April 2006 to promote the Collected album with. I slid on my Walkman and tried not to move until the whole thing was over, but then something amazing happened.Also, maybe every Best Of's goal should be to contain only good songs and no boring ones, and while I don't think Best Of's always achieve this, I think this one does. La chanson est envoutante, l'ensemble instruments et voix illustre bien le nuage d'angoisse qui enveloppe le couple du film. Notes: On both discs the 3 letter abbreviations for each of the songs/ video tracks are running along the inner edge of the disc, with the rest of the disc being pure sliver with no title information on it beside basic copyright information.

This means that music from that piece of shit, the band's recent 100th Window, is more difficult to avoid; the anemic IDM drums and imitation- Kid A processed vocals of "Butterfly Caught" sound even worse when sandwiched between relative masterpieces like "Protection" and "Unfinished Sympathy". There are so many many personal favourites on this compilation that it would be useless to name them: you just need to have a look at the tracklisting, most of it is made of my personal favourites.Other tracks add glistening pools of flanged-out postpunk guitars and lushly romantic strings and lonely jazz-saxophone flourishes. The CD layer features rare material, while the DVD layer comprises all the band's music videos to date. The DVD included here includes all 16 videos from the Dualdisc versions of Collected, unlike all other DVD versions which only include 11 videos, up until Inertia Creeps. A bonus disc of rarities rescues the crushingly claustrophobic electro-dub Mos Def collaboration "I Against I" from the Blade 2 soundtrack, but it's mostly given over to gloppy, dismal background fare, making it difficult to understand why it's here at all. Collected may not be a substitute for grabbing the group's essential records, but you'll be happy to have it the next time you end up on a two-engine propeller plane.
