The thing that interested me most about the book is how much the main character of Agatha Raisin has changed since the new author took over writing these stories from the late, great Beaton.

When they arrive, the body is gone, left behind is a small wet patch, the only proof a body was ever there. Agatha and her assistant, Toni, are driving to their friend Bill Wong's wedding, thinking of nothing more than what the beautiful bride will be wearing when a terrified young man comes running down the country lane towards them wearing. After all, we met Giovanni, the Italian choral director, who slept with Agatha and didn't want anything to do with her the next day. Toni decides she wants to go undercover as Edward's girlfriend at the Mircester Naturist Club and become involved in the club so that she can get to know the people; Toni is willing to go naked.C. Beaton (1936-2019) was the author of both the Agatha Raisin and Hamish Macbeth series, as well as numerous Regency romances. After Agatha sees Ursula again, she is suspicious even more as Ursula doesn't seem that she is in the least bit upset that her husband is dead. Toni pretended she was lost in Ulrika's area and ended up in her yard looking at her many plants when Ulrika greeted her.

Agatha asks a law enforcement officer she met at the wedding where she was going at the beginning of the book, John Glass, who also asks to see Agatha again after the wedding. The mysteries are rambling and convoluted, Agatha’s love life is complicated, and there are an abundance of over-the-top moments that require suspension of disbelief. When a women is describe as having a dress big enough to be a marquee tent if needed, I stopped reading.Some old fans may quibble about changes in the series, but it is at least on a renewed steady course and provides a regular cozy read. Bert, Agatha's housecleaner Doris Simpson's husband, sees her while cleaning James' cottage windows on the ladder. And the headmistress of Martinbrook Sixth Form College discovers drug dealing at the school, and a youthful private detective poses as a student to track down the culprit. Agatha and her assistant, Toni, are driving to their friend Bill Wong’s long-awaited wedding, thinking of nothing more than what the beautiful bride will be wearing when a terrified young man comes running down the country lane towards them wearing…nothing at all. Green’s writing style is definitely entertaining with the descriptive narrative, clever quips, snarky responses, and continued conflicts with DI Wilkes you expect to see.
