About this deal

The Mio Cyclo 210 (review ed here) is the entry-level model in a range of 5 devices. The 210 is starting to be more actively marketed since its introduction in August 2018.

Let’s put the Cyclo 210 in context. It’s good for a day’s worth of navigational fun on two wheels but perhaps not in a monsoon. You can set up to six profiles on the Mio Cyclo 210, so you can either share the device with other users or set up different profiles for road and gravel riding. The profile used will determine the roads and paths that the mapping software will use in creating routes and navigation. Information classified as “sensitive” personal data e.g. relating to your health. This information will only be collected and used where it is needed to provide the product or service you have requested or to comply with our legal obligations; I quite like opening up a box, getting out the instructions and settling down for an hour with a new bit of tech and setting everything up, but with the Mio I was done in about 10 minutes as it is so simple to get up and running, and there isn't really that much to configure.From opening the box to using the Cyclo 210, it takes less than five minutes. But to get the most out of it, you’re best setting up a profile within the settings menu. This allows you to input data such as your sex, height, weight and preferred mode of transport (e.g. mountain bike). Also, in Surprise Me I'd select, say, 20 miles as my desired loop and it would suggest three up to 20km instead. And one such route displayed correctly but said I had 270 miles to go, which to be fair did surprise me, because I was already home. Perhaps a future update will fix these things. Just do as you’re told The grandaddy of all bike computers is probably the Garmin Edge 1030 (58x114x19mm), yet the MIO Cyclo 210 Review ed here is slightly bigger at 68x114x18.6mm. The Cyclo is 30g heavier at 151g but, most importantly, the cyclo has a superior screen resolution of 320x480px when compared to the Edge 1030 of 282x470px although the physical, usable screen size of both is pretty much the same. Talking of which, the somewhat simple mount attaches via zip-ties, which makes it secure but immovable – a pain if you want to use it on multiple bikes (which the head unit allows for in its set-up). The data will be used to calculate the calories you burn during an activity and to enable you to show the activities you participate in if you wish. Your provision indicates your consent. Send text regarding your location with Android smartphones onlyWireless ANT+ and bluetooth heart rate monitor and wheel and cadence sensor (all 505HC models only) The main thing I like about my Garmin 810 is that it has Bluetooth to connect to my phone, so that as soon as the ride is saved it uploads automatically to the Garmin Connect and Strava apps. The Cyclo does a good job of guiding you from A to B. Your position on the map is as you would expect and you are alerted in an appropriate manner for upcoming turns if your route supports that. Mio Cyclo 505 includes Surprise Me feature whereby you enter either your destination, time cycling or distance and then the device provides 3 potential bicycle routes. You can additionally use workout programs from the device for outdoor and indoor use when the weather does not enable you to go outdoors.

And at the end there is a rubber-covered USB port and a memory card port. I’ve absolutely no idea why you would need to use a memory card as a full regional map is included. PURPOSE AND BASIS OF MITAC’S COLLECTION AND PROCESSING OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA 1. Membership or Agreement with You

You send your ride data to MIOSHARE, the online platform. (AFAIK there is no app for the 210 – there is no bluetooth support).

Underneath we have a proprietary twist mount. It seems to sometimes fit into Polar mounts and Garmin mounts BUT NOT VERY SECURELY. So don’t do that. The Mio Cyclo Discover Pal has a big, bright touchscreen with maps that are easy to read and control – even in gloves and rain – yet it can be incredibly frustrating to use. If you're after detailed metrics, sensor connectivity and accurate measurement, as you tend to get with the best cycling computers, be grateful it's not aimed at you and doesn't have them, because it's casual and leisure cyclists looking for easy navigation who'll be struggling with it instead. Like most gadgets, the Cyclo Discover Pal wants to do pretty much everything, though thankfully it's not trying to be yet another social media platform – though it will happily connect to things, such as Strava, that are. Mainly it focuses on navigation, but even then it would like to drag in other people via the MioShare App. Additional personal data such as your location, gender, birthdate, height, weight when you use the Application or services; Here’s a pretty picture of it from the side. Hardware

It would seem a more sensible strategy to me that MIO followed a similar model to WAHOO and just didn’t bother with MIOSHARE at all. Instead they could rely on one of those trendy modern things called ‘an app’ which then linked to RIDEWITHGPS for route creation and to STRAVA for routes, analysis and social stuff. They could then focus on innovating more around their hardware. MIO Cyclo 210 Review – Navigating So what doesn’t the Mio Cyclo 210 do? There’s no ANT+ connection so you can’t connect it to a heart rate monitor, nor is there Bluetooth. That means if you want to transfer routes to or from the 210 (or pair it with Strava), you have to connect it to your computer using a lead and transfer them via the MioShare app — an annoyingly fiddly process. Should I buy one? If you choose to upload your activity data, MiTAC will process your activity data for the following purposes: (a) to enable you to analyze your activity data, identify any Cyclo used to collect data during the activity, see your location on your activity recordings, including GPS logs and related physical data, and, if you wish, share your activity data with others; (b) to analyze usage and trends in an aggregated manner, so as to develop or improve features and services; and (c) for internal research and development purposes so as to build better products and services for customers, including you. However the Cyclo seems a tad overpriced to me. The only justification for the price that I can see is the screen. Then again, the screen IS a fundamental part of a bike navigation offering. Activities you participate such as bike rides, hikes, gym activities, etc. and the activity data (e.g. distance, pace, activity time, routes, calories burned, heart rate, sleep, location, menstrual cycle information, hydration, music played, etc.) from your Cyclo to your Account;
