About this deal

The floral fragrance is really strong with this one which surprised me because the Fantasy line is much more sweeter. This is a lovely fragrance, it’s light and aquatic, magnolia flowers floating gently in a clear pond. My mom gifted it to me when I was in middle school, which must have been around the time it first came onto the market. The scent is presented in a sparkling azure bottle with many facets to incite curiosity, while the heart shaped charms inspire good luck.

The magnolia note is what I get the most of on me but it's also a bit gourmandishly sweet in the same way that Candie's by Candie's is, I can't really describe it but kinda reminds me of fruity caramel popcorn. It smells like it's supposed to be - nice and clean, inoffensive white floral, which I can finally enjoy! These are very pretty together, although I found it difficult to detect any of the pear, vanilla or woods. Britney was allegedly very involved with the development and creation process of this fragrance and I think it's apparent, because it has "Britney" written all over. It does not progress very clearly through the perfume pyramid, magnolia and the soft, demure lotus dominate throughout (with a hint of pear playing a supportive role).Britney's name is attached to it and this came out in 2004 when not every celebrity had a fragrance line. This is such a unique use of vanilla, its creamy but oh so delicate balanced by an aquatic note that makes it fresh and airy. Has a bit of sweetness from the pear, which is rather timid here comparing to, let's say, Ariana Grande's perfumes, but not as beautiful as Mon Guerlain's Sparkling Bouquet. When it comes to describing perfume smells, I’m not necessarily the best, but what I can say is that it has a rather fresh and clean scent, nostalgic really.

I think the title "Curious" describes it perfectly, because to me it felt like a fragrance that was built on curiosity and exploration of different components in the scent itself, but also in the packaging which was very different from everything that was around at the time.

Fantasy, much more sweet and fruity and girlish, probably would have been a more suitable scent for little me. This smells just like shampoo to me, like a Pantene or something, which isn't really what I look for in a perfume - I love fragrances with character and body, and this definitely does not fulfill that criteria. I’d been wanting to try Curious ever since I read Neil Chapman’s book and realised this is probably the only celebrity scent he mentions in his entire book.

I remember being a pre-teen and sniffing the tester for this perfume in magazines, and of course also her iconic commercial. The powdery musk notes give me a tad bit of a headache behind my eyes so it’s more of a special occasion pick for me. EDIT***** after contacting the seller they suggested I wait a few days to see if it smelt better( I was thinking what will that do? I was confused upon initial spray as I was met with such a fresh scent - I liked this when I was 11? Overall not a nice scent imo, and one I hardly reached for unless the weather and my mood were just right for it.

This definitely isn't the same cute bottle I remember wanting, it's very cheap looking and the sprayer is PLASTIC. It doesn't personally ring my bells, but it's not bad whatsoever, and was released at a time where the fragrance field wasn't saturated with endless similar releases. It's really sad and unfortunate that they decided to cheapen this, since it's been a hugely successful fragrance from day 1 and there was no need to go down that route.
