The deluxe set includes a 28-page booklet featuring in-depth liner notes penned by lifelong Elvis fan/respected music critic Randy Lewis, rare photos and memorabilia from the event, and the first-ever visual release of Aloha from Hawaii via Satellite on Blu-ray. Monique Brave, a little Indian Sioux, presents Elvis with "The Medallion of Life" for his Sioux nation. Initially, Elvis’ January 14th concert was telecast live via satellite to viewers in Asia and Oceania and presented with a delay in January in Europe. The track is a hugely musical affair, and its mix beautifully captures the energy and vitality of those many live musical performances.

Baz Luhrmann has crafted a stylistic dream of a cinematic experience, bringing together all his experience of Moulin Rouge’s musical explosion and The Great Gatsby’s peak into the soul of a larger-than-life character and produced a sensorial feast that offers a tantalising look behind the curtain of the battle for one of music’s most legendary souls. Less successful is Hanks’ Parker – underneath a mountain of prosthetics and a wandering and very questionable accent, Parker veers between having an honest love for the boy he found on that Hayride stage back in 1953 and his pantomimic manipulation and exploitation for personal gain, and there’s just something about the role that never quite lands.

Luhrmann's direction and the film's editing, there's just too much wrong (or at least off) to ignore. In addition to telling Elvis's life story, the movie also provides background on the singer's relationships with other iconic rock and blues performers — including Little Richard, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, BB King and Sam Phillips. Coming from a 1st Generation digital copy of a actual TV Station broadcast tape, (originally used to broadcast 'The Special' in October 1977) and re-mastered frame by frame, the 1977 CBS TV Special, for the first time ever, is in near perfect quality, and is a very special treat for fans! The main cast and crew talk about the inspirations of Elvis and how the King's style was brought to the big screen.

The slight softening of the image around the edges of the frame and within it as a result of the anamorphic process employed and those custom lenses seems perfectly apt for the period and isn’t as obtrusive at all as one might suspect.
