About this deal

The original Now Dance series began in 1985 and has been released in a variety of titles, formats, and release frequency. My daughter kept surfing the radio stations trying to catch her favorite songs when I realized it was the prefect time to introduce her to these! Towards the end of the series, 3-CD digipak sets were issued, but in 2010, the long-running title was retired, and all subsequent dance-themed Now collections have been issued under the Special Editions series.

The presentation of each release has evolved notably over time: from 1986 through to 2013, all double and triple CD sets were released in chubby Jewel cases which could hold up to 6 discs. This is no exception as this has plenty of hits that have reached the higher end of the charts in recent months. Stay is an odd case I think because at this point Rihanna was still letting her songs on Now albums. first reissued 2009 for the 25th anniversary, then again 20 July 2018 to coincide with Now 100) re-issued on 2CD (gatefold in 2009, jewel case in 2018), audio cassette, and a 2LP vinyl release.The Special Editions series includes a wide range of Now anniversary collections, different music genres, eras, and decades, as well as commercial tie-ins with Smash Hits, Disney, Eurovision, HMV and the Official Chart Company.

Some of the Special Editions have identical names, although a few of these titles are followed by their year of release. The Official Charts Company reported the album as the fastest selling album in 2013, selling 317,376 copies in its first week of sales. First disc I'll have to go with John Newman as that song topping the chart back then was great although Daft Punk, Justin (prob my fave of his tbh), Olly and Passenger (yes we'll agree to disagree here ) are my highlights! A further release, The Final Chapter, a deluxe 4-CD and 3-LP set, was issued in December 2022, rounding off the Yearbook years 1980 to 1984. Disc Two is a bit more disappointing, the first 9 songs are 10/10 but everything after This Is What It Feels Like just falls flat for me really. There seems to be an ongoing trend with old hits being re-released too (I can only assume this is because they know this year's X Factor single before everyone else or that there is an artist about to bring out some cover of it). A handful of artists make their only series appearance on this volume including Passenger, Icona Pop, Paramore, Imagine Dragons, Gabz, Sebastian Ingrosso (as a lead artist), Armin van Buuren, Chris Malinchak, Breach, Union J and Charlie Brown.
