CBS/SONY Japan Press. The sound is very clean and bright. But you miss the explosion and the power of one "DM Mastering" pressing or the Columbia house edition. Also this version lags from bass and punchy sound. Still great material to have. You can enjoy the album without issues. Overall a very expensive material but deserve the money to get one copy soon. This is the 2nd best version of the album in my opinion after the legendary "Columbia House" edition below.This pressing it sound very similar to the "MFN 1st pressing". You can heard the same things. The music is quiet mastered and you get the same dead sound without explosion or any brightness. Also the instruments are very weak and barely come out from your speakers. You can feel the same things and in the 1st "France" pressing of "Ride the Lightning" that was pressed by "MPO". So yeah i want to stay away from these mastering plants. I notice too that the version has a little more bass and that make the music little more noisy. The bass it sound little annoying and remind you many CDs out there.

South Korea 1989 Reissue. A collective material and nothing more. Moderate pressing and also missing 3 legendary songs of the album. The syncopated riffing of "Leper Messiah" challenges the hypocrisy of the televangelism that emerged in the 1980s. The song describes how people are willingly turned into blind religious followers who mindlessly do whatever they are told. [31] The 136 beats per minute mid-tempo riffing of the verses culminates in a descending chromatic riff in the chorus; it increases to a galloping 184 beats per minute for the middle section that climaxes in a distorted scream of "Lie!". [26] The title derives from the lyrics to the David Bowie song " Ziggy Stardust". [8] Anyway when i get this version of the album i really impressed about the sound quality in the beginning. Was a better upgrade against my CDs. But over time i getting and other pressings and right now i'm not so impressed about this pressing. In this list I spoke only for vinyl pressings and not for CDs or Cassettes. But i want to say that the Original CD or the "Vertigo 89 Reissue (that has the original sound and mastering) have great and very decent sound and in my opinion they sound much better than some pressings on that list. This vinyl here it seems has the power and the explosion of the original CD but with more clear sound without noises and better separate instruments. This pressing is one of the most serious pressings you can get. No inner groove distortions, no muffled sound like the 1st "MFN" pressing and not big noises like the "MFN 45 RPM version". This is the most balance vinyl i have listen from the album right now. It takes this place on that list because the above pressings have some other benefits that I like too.

In the beginning i was very confused about this pressing because my first copy it sounded very weird. Some songs sounded amazing and some other bad. So i decided to get another copy of the album with in great condition and i was right. The second copy it sound completely different and very balance in all songs despite the "side 2" has created from different stamper. Vertigo Europe 89 Press. This pressing it sound "ok" but nothing serious. Has big low end and combinied with the "DMM" process the sound is very muddy and mess the clarity of the music. Also the pressing it is not so loud and when you up the volume you listen only the low end the cover all the instruments and you thing the upper end and the mids has deleted. But overall it's "ok" (I guess?) pressing for casual listenings. Before some time ago i believed any pressing of the original album must sound almost the same but i was wrong. The "Allied and "Specialty" pressings above that has "DMM" process they are more aggressive but also more noisy with little more muddy sound. This it sound more clean with less noises and also with much more atmosphere and depth. All the original "US" pressings sounded amazing and they are the best pressings of the album, but I feel this one is more lively and passionate. Has more natural sound and better mix. First of all the music is very quiet mastered and barely come out from your speakers. You need a giant amplifier and big speakers to heard good the music. Also the music it seems slightly muddy and have not the explosion or any bright thing. Perhaps the original CD can sound with more power and explosion. But the sound here is more warmer and that save little the whole thing but still i don't enjoy the album from this pressing specially when i had the "Allied US Pressing" in my collection that has "DM Mastering". From there the album it sound completely different and amazing.

[50] [51] The extra bass of the version buried the instruments and especially the guitars and the "Cliff's" bass. Is like you listen some bigger atmosphere behind but it is not that. Is the extra bass that mess little the clarity of the album. The original album has much more separate instruments and more noticiable bass and guitars but also more thin sound.

When this vinyl came out, I saw outside the writings "Louder, Faster, Heavier" and said to myself "Oh my God !!.. How will sound this version??".. But the truth is, i expected more from that series and specially on this version. In a different view this version looks like one small remix from them. When the "Battery" starts, someone try to eat you alive. The music come with amazing explosion from your speakers and you feel them very closed to you.
