Lost Lives is releasing a limited-run vinyl of its RTS NI award-winning soundtrack on 18 December 2020. A warm, unsentimental and beautifully-observed book for our times' Lucy Caldwell, author of These Days 'If I were in bother I'd want the Ballybrady bunch at my back. The authors of this massive memorial are David McKittrick of the Independent, Seamus Kelters of the BBC, and two respected Belfast journalists, Brian Feeney and Chris Thornton.

As a reference book, Lost Lives is indispensable; as a landscape of history painted in fine detail it is unique. His shot ricocheted off a wall and fragments of the one bullet hit the three boys he couldn't even see; one lost the fingers of one hand, another lost the back of his head but survived; the third was 16 year old Leo McGuigan. While ‘Lost Lives’ is a very useful resource, I feel that it suffers from a lack of contextualisation of the macro level politics going on at various stages of the conflict.A soldier who was down in the street shot at the sniper and the reporter thought that saved his life. It's not a book one can sit down and read cover to cover, but more a volume of reference that the reader will re-visit time and time again, sadly with some truly heartbreaking stories of the slain, espescially those of the children and the innocent. She hasn't left the village since a traumatic stay in London as a young woman at the end of the 1980s.

This is a moving and funny debut novel set in a quirky coastal community you will be desperate to visit after reading.

All the casualties are here: the RUC officer, the young soldier, the IRA volunteer, the loyalist paramilitary, the Catholic mother, the Protestant worker, the newborn baby. This is a book to be passed on to the next generation who have already largely forgotten what their fathers and mothers endured for over 30 years.
