She reflects on her past, how she got where she is However, what stands out is her commitment to being a positive influence in the world from involvement in arts programs in schools, to workers rights and human rights. The book opens well with some cracking stories and I settled down for what I thought would be a really good read. This book however is like a diary, where Sheila has mixed what has happened within that year and flips back to her past younger years of what happened. But six months later I went to a place where I used to get my nails done, and there it was, hanging on the peg, as if to say: how dare you leave me behind? Today is particularly piercing on this score, the death of Denis Waterman, Thaw’s co-star in The Sweeney, having just been announced. She has suffered loss and sadness, and currently has rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune and inflammatory disease, but doesn't stop her maintaining a firm grip on life and learning.
